We found this place by accident on our way to Boothbay, ME. We liked it so much we stopped again on our way back to Boston. It is the real Maine. Fresh lobster right there in the tanks, wide variety of options to order... Friendly and the portions are huge! First time we ordered the clam and seafood chowder... Second... More

My husband says this is the best (and largest) fish sandwich in the area. They're pretty quick and you can phone it in and arrive by car or boat (they have a dock in Buttermilk Cove).

This is a tiny building on the way to or from The Harpswells, and you have to know to slow down and stop, or you'll whizz right by. Now you know to stop. Hardly any chairs, so this is a really more of a takeout place, either prepared food (with daily specials that are good deals) or fresh fish and... More

Easy to miss place. Little cabin on the side of the road with fantastic seafood and prices. We stopped at about 7 pm and the place was still packed. The seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. We had fried dinners including clams, lobster, and shrimp, along with a couple of beers and the total bill was under $45. Food... More

If you drive by this place and dont stop, you are either dead, insane or an idiot. The staff is super friendly and the food is wicked awesome. Kitchen decor, small place that is just big enough to turn around in, but don't let the size fool you. Anybody who reviews this place with less than a five should be... More

We visit the area every year and we end up doing at least one trip to "The Gurnet" each year for lunch. The Haddock sandwich is just fantastic and I never really look any further on their menu. We also take advantage of the Gurnet to take a dozen live lobster to go for the twelve hour drive home at... More

This is a very quaint and very small place which specializes in fresh fish and seafood. The decor is a little Maine-kitschy, but don't let it fool you. It has the appearance of being a tourist trap, but it is not! Good, fresh food - eat in or take out (or take home and prepare yourself). The kicker is the... More

We come up to the area each year for a week and order for 16 people- sometimes we eat on the picnic tables and other times, we bring home. Amazing seafood prepared perfectly, generous portions, friendly accommodating staff, and we go at least twice or three times. Strongly recommended!!!

Gurnet's has some of the largest live lobsters in the area. Even in the middle of one of the worst storms this winter when most places didn't have lobsters, Gurnet's had jumbo sized lobsters 2.5-3 lbs. The fresh Harpswell oysters and scallops that are hand harvested by diving keep us coming back year round. The seafood chowder is very good,... More
