As a local I am used to the tourists in the summer. I like to act like one from time to time. So one amazingly warm sunny evening I took the scenic route to Gurnet Trading with a gift certificate to buy the biggest lobster they had with a side of steamers. The woman who waited on me was incredibly... More

excellent lobster, and they are all right there in huge tanks, hundreds or thousands of them. You may have to wait while they make up your order, then get it at a window. Then you can eat inside or out, but come early, because space can be tight at busy times. Funky atmosphere - you will know you are not... More

Very good quality food (lobsters and quahogs especially). The prices were very fair for the fresh items, the prepared items were a little steep but still worth it based on quality and quantity. Very fast and friendly service....just beware the entitled old people who will publicly scold you if you do not park correctly.

We stayed in Maine for 2 months and after going to almost every lobster shack up and down the coast from Wells to Rockland - we found Gurnet's - it became our 3x a week haunt for lobster. Great prices, great service, open all year long (just in case you are there slightly off season and find other places closed).... More

I made the mistake of stopping for a sandwich. What a mistake. The roll was stale and the lobster tasted fishy. Not the best food the area has to offer. I would make it a point to visit other better kept establishments.

Had lunch here today with a friend. The lobster stew was great as was the crab cake sandwich. This is a basic lobster shack experience so be prepared for no frills. You come for the food not the atmosphere or view.

This is a very small restaurant on the side of the road. They have very limited seating inside and a few tables and chairs that are along the road. If you are looking for a fancy dining experience, this is not the place for you. If you want to try the best clam chowder, this is the place for you.... More

Unlike another reviewer I thought the service was fine. The staff is there to take your order and prepare your meal. A bit like deli style without the numbers. This is obviously not a wine and dine restaurant so don't expect the 5 star treatment. Outdoor seating picnic style. The seafood tanks are right in front of you and your... More

Ove the years I have passed this place many times without stopping in. Our friends had a gift certificate for Gurnet Trading so off we went. It is a tiny place with most of the seating outdoors, either along the road or in a fenced area closer to the water. Several selections of lobster and fish were available and we... More
