My boyfriend and I wanted to experience Maine's Seafood as the locals would. I found that Gurnet Trading Co. had a very good rating on Trip Advisor, so we thought we would check it out. The food was amazing and freshly caught. They were very helpful since they knew we had never been there, and made suggestions on what to... More

Great and friendly welcome from the owner. Preferred the hard shell to the soft one. Great interior! Will go again :-)

We went for the lobster rolls (which were excellent!) and indulged in some fried clam bellies which were beyond any expectations we had. These had to be the freshest sweetest best fried clams I have ever eaten and I vacation on cape cod annually and never had fried clams that were this good. I would give 5 stars just for... More

Drove up from Boston on a free weekend during a business stay, Had never been to Maine, so drove up the the LL Bean store in Freeport. Outlet store city. Rather than eat with gobs of other tourists, hit of TA for reviews of places with 15 to 20 miles. Reviews for Gurnet Trading company looked promising. Ordered just the... More

I stop here on the way to and from Canada and I've taken to planning my trip in such a way that I can eat here. The lobster roll is delicious and is made with REAL mayo, not that awful miracle whip. it's packed with lobster and is a great value. Being from NYC, I'd have to pay $16 for... More

I've been a customer for the past three summers and have either eaten their lobster rolls or purchased their seafood at least 20 times. This is not a gourmet restaurant, it's a small kitchen filled with hard workers turning out honest food. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I believe this is one of the best lobster rolls in Maine--if... More

This was my first stop on my first trip to Maine. We wanted to stop for lunch and checked out trip adv and found this spot.. The outside of the place was quaint and appealing..little did we know that when we went inside a Maine bear would great us. The service was slow as it appeared everyone was disorganized...and moreover... More

So sorry that your experience was not a positive one at our establishment. In defense of the lobster roll at Gurnet we only use Hellmans mayo, never Miracle Whip (not anywhere on the premises) I'm not really sure where they are selling lobster rolls under 8.00 in Maine unless they are the finger roll size, ours are the New England...
