Better this time

Years ago, we had a mediocre meal here and didn't return until recently. This time, we were pleased. Nice ambience, excellent service, and good food. My wife had the rolled beef special, a bit saltier than she liked, but good. I had the Holsteinschnitzel – topped with fried egg and anchovies and... read more

We had an excellent lunch with with excellent service! We live about an hour away and were delighted to find a German Restaurant for us to enjoy! The atmosphere is very nice and their home made mustard was a great compliment to their meal. Can't wait to go back and try more of their wonderful food!

Our party of 4 all enjoyed our meals. The favorite of the night was the Spaztle in swiss cheese sauce. My husbands pan fried haddock was also very delicious. The meal starts with hot pretzels and light flaky rolls, the sides of spaztle and hot potato salad were also favorites.

Travelling on business and came across this wonderful place. I enjoyed the first batch of mulled wine, pretzels/bread and mustard and a delicious entrée of sauerbraten. Definitely recommend this place!

We have a meal several times a year at Richard's, traveling from Kennebunkport--always a stop on the way in Freeport,L.L. Bean, of course. A Christmas gift certificate to Richard's is an annual Christmas gift from family, who join us when they visit from New Jersey. That is always a very welcome gift. Enjoyed lunch today at about noon, with excellent, congenial... More

Richard (the father) ran an exceptionally popular restaurant because of the delicious food. Will (the son) kept up the tradition. Everything from the pretzels and bread to the salad to the main course was delicious. I thought the salad bar was a little small but everything on it was superb. The filet I ordered was a perfect piece of meat... More

A recommendation: While in Brunswick tonight Bob & I ate dinner at a charming German restaurant called Richards. We enjoyed a dark German beer, Deutsche Bauernsuppe, Rheinischer Sauerbraten, accompanied by a bread basket with amazing delicate flakey rolls & a soft pretzel w/ side of sweet spicy mustard, and a slice of Sachertorte. Every bite was memorable. The staff were... More

I love the atmosphere and the waitstaff is great. I love the homemade biscuits and pretzels, and the mustard is great. The food is EXCELLENT, however, the serving sizes have gone down while the prices have gone up. Because I love the food I will return but not as often as I would if the prices were better. I

Thank you for your honest feedback, Leslie. It’s wonderful to hear how much you enjoy our food at friendly atmosphere. We never look forward raising our prices, but we unfortunately have to keep up with the rising cost of the meats and fresh produce that go into our cuisine. We will be happy to look into reevaluating our serving sizes... More
