Lovely server, pleasant surroundings, last Saturday before Xmas and our party of four was the only party in the building. Enough said.

I think the Brewery need to get this pub sorted - it is under new management yet again and the new people do not seem to have any experience of running a pub or of providing food. The place was empty apart from our party of four and another party of four - on a Saturday night in December!! Service... More

We have been visiting this pub to eat with friends for a good 18 months, but after going on Saturday, probably wont go again. It has yet again got new people running it - we can only assume they are temporary. They seem as though they haven't run a pub before let alone provided food. I would give it a... More

We took my partner's parents here on Saturday. We needed to find a place close to where we were staying which provided traditional food for our older (fussier) guests. We just looked this up as an option based on reviews on Tripadvisor. I have to say that it was a risk but it paid off. When we arrived it was... More

Found this pub entirely by chance, but my advice to you is to check it out before it gets too well known. The veggie option was simple but fresh & well presented, and the chicken ham & stilton pie was first class. Frequently a pie like this would be very salty. Not so. And, not presented in the almost-ubiquitous porcelain... More

Having made a few phone calls to various of our favourite places to eat with no joy in getting a table we decided to have a drive out. We had been to the Shoulder for drinks before but had never eaten there. We were given a warm welcome. My husband ordered the sunday lunch - they only had beef on... More

We visited today for the first time with friends. Lovely setting, nice and airy pub, very nicely decorated. We all had a main course & pudding plus drinks and we couldn't find fault with anything even if we tried. First class. We will be recommending this place and returning ourselves for sure!
