I think the Brewery need to get this pub sorted - it is under new management yet again and the new people do not seem to have any experience of running a pub or of providing food. The place was empty apart from our party of four and another party of four - on a Saturday night in December!! Service... More

We have been visiting this pub to eat with friends for a good 18 months, but after going on Saturday, probably wont go again. It has yet again got new people running it - we can only assume they are temporary. They seem as though they haven't run a pub before let alone provided food. I would give it a... More

We took my partner's parents here on Saturday. We needed to find a place close to where we were staying which provided traditional food for our older (fussier) guests. We just looked this up as an option based on reviews on Tripadvisor. I have to say that it was a risk but it paid off. When we arrived it was... More

Found this pub entirely by chance, but my advice to you is to check it out before it gets too well known. The veggie option was simple but fresh & well presented, and the chicken ham & stilton pie was first class. Frequently a pie like this would be very salty. Not so. And, not presented in the almost-ubiquitous porcelain... More

Having made a few phone calls to various of our favourite places to eat with no joy in getting a table we decided to have a drive out. We had been to the Shoulder for drinks before but had never eaten there. We were given a warm welcome. My husband ordered the sunday lunch - they only had beef on... More

We visited today for the first time with friends. Lovely setting, nice and airy pub, very nicely decorated. We all had a main course & pudding plus drinks and we couldn't find fault with anything even if we tried. First class. We will be recommending this place and returning ourselves for sure!

Absolutely superb evening meal at this pub. Lamb cutlets were a joy according to my wife. I had the steak and kidney pudding and it was fabulous. Spotlessly clean and very attentive staff. Definitely recommended for a visit.

Arrived at 9pm and was still warmly welcomed and served lovely food. Steaks very tasty with a lovely Stilton sauce. The chips are always amazing here.

I have visited the Shoulder of Mutton in Stretton on Dunsmore a few times with my wife for meals and used it as a stop off for refreshments while on bike rides (we live in a nearby village). The pub is well kept and the food is what you would expect from a village/country pub. It pub is well kept... More

Tried to respond to this review before but unlike you I am unable to say what I feel. I will try again. First up congratulations on posting the most inane review I've ever read. Secondly, and this is my favourite, telling us there was a dog do on our lawn three months before your review is, not constructive, in fact... More

My husband took me for a midweek evening meal out and as we had been here several times before and lately had had some bad meals elsewhere and felt safe going to the shoulder of mutton and its only down the road. Lovely welcome as usual and sat in the lovely dining area. I don t usually have a starter... More

Hi. I am sorry to hear you were disappointed at your last visit. I apologise for the bruschetta every now and again we run out of things and substitute the nearest we have, this is however no excuse. The salad as clearly stated on our menu is mixed leaf and tomato, it is therefore very difficult for us to meet... More
