Giddy-yap Black Horse Tavern!

Found our way to the ultimate Maine Town-Bridgton. Not a lot going on, but busy in a down-home way. Black Horse Tavern is an oasis for the hungry and thirsty. We had an excellent lunch: Monte Cristo-piled high- sandwich and Boursin Cheeseburger with big thick french fries. Not too expensive... read more

My friend and I stopped by for a drink after work, before dinner. I ordered a coffee with a shot of Baileys in it. The bartender offered whipped cream, I said yes. My drink was $12!!! What the heck? Next time, no whipped cream? Next time, I go elsewhere and have two for that price!

If you are looking for a nice place to have dinner in Bridgton this is the place. The prices are a bit high(for the area) but the food was very good. There were five in our party and we all enjoyed our dinner. The staff was friendly. My only complaint is, the dining room was a bit on the chilly... More

We've eaten here before, and the food, atmosphere, and friendly staff always stand out. My parents live nearby, and their favorite waitress really went the extra mile to please our party of five. She even moved us to a spot by the gas fireplace when we felt the chill of the first room where we had been seated. I had... More

Our first night in Bridgton, we ended up at the Black Horse Tavern for dinner - and we were hooked! We went to the Black Horse almost every night we were there. Both the food and the service were great! I loved the Melted Brie with Maine Blueberry Chutney and the Boursin Cheese Burger, and my husband loved their different... More

We met friends for brunch after church, and , as it turned out, it is a good thing we had already had breakfast. We waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and we were not alone. Adjacent tables had beverages only for quite awhile. But when the food came, what a great meal it was. We had Jambalaya, Eggs... More

2 of us stopped in for dinner tonight. A chicken dish & fish and chips were ordered. Food was average, the waitress needs to be re-trained, as she did not check with us after food was delivered to table, and did not notice (for 30 minutes) empty drink glasses - we had to ask for refills. Atmosphere was average.

When we've visited my wife's sister and her husband in rural Maine, we always seem to wind up at a new restaurant they've discovered. This trip was no exception and the destination was this neat place near Long Lake. The service was excellent, and all four of us had tasty meals. The Tavern had a family feel; however, it probably...
