Locals and travelers flock to the Eagles Nest

A line of cars outside is the telltale clue that you have discovered a local fave. Lobster rolls may have put it on the map, and you might spy an eagle while viewing the Penobscot River.

Local dive, darn good lobster roll. It's a small dive/diner. We went on a Thursday evening in January and the place was packed with locals getting their usual which was all you could eat haddock and fries. The portions were large and the service friendly by Maine standards. Slightly out of the way. The views were nice of the river.

I come here every summer for its lobster rolls. However, the price of the rolls keep creeping up, despite the price of fresh lobsters is dropping. I believe it is $18.99 per roll now. For the last visit, I resisted getting the rolls, and went for the all-you-can-eat fish fry since it was a Friday evening. The portion of fish... More

There is just no filler to detract from this superior lobster meal. Onion rings were great match! The fried clams were generous and just right. Fried shrimp roll was quit nice. Great grilled roll for the lobster and shrimp rolls.

We stopped here for lunch on our way back from Downeast Maine. It had been recommended by friends and having passed this restaurant many times, we finally timed it when it was time for a meal. Small and not ostentatious...Unpretentious and diner like...this is a diamond in the rough. They have a few seats at the counter...and a few tables... More

Our first visit here, we order the lobster sandwiches. They are huge, delicious and pretty good price. Their menu features all homemade pies. The second time we ordered the "platter" for about $30 this platter feeds about 4 people. It's huge and has a variety of seafood. Shrimp, scallops, clams, and huge pieces of haddock. If you like fried seafood,... More

Visiting local friends, live just a few minutes away from this hole in the wall as they refer to it. Not much to look at, but adds to the charm. Great wait staff, ate there twice doing week stay, and six days later she remembered our drink preferences! Only one waitress and she was a whiz. Food just as good,... More
