This hidden restaurant (below Carousel Condo)s on the east side of the harbor has an extensive menu of excellent food. It overlooks the marina and has one of the best views of the beautiful sunsets over the harbor, especially from it's outdoor patio.

Been there twice in two years, the first time I told the owner, he was rather rude. The second time I didn't even say anything, to avoid his rudeness. Never going there again, Even if the food had been hot, it still was not that good.

We are staying at Browns Wharf (awesome!) Decided to try next door at the Whales Tale for an easy dinner...big mistake! Young waiter was nice (Miles)...other than that fail! No filet left for my boyfriend...so we got prime rib. Ordered medium rare...overlooked, fatty & not good! My pino I ordered was gross, waiter said they have complaints. Should have stayed... More

The location is outstanding, particularly in hot summer weatherf. Since it is a major marina there is a chance of meetibg some real interesting people traveling about. The service is ok and the food good. Nothing memorable about the dishes but they are good.

We visit friends in Boothbay Harbor, Me. once or twice a year and thus have also visited the Whale's Tail several times, since our friends frequent this place fairly often. We enjoy sitting outside sipping drinks, eating appetizers and basking in the lovely harbor view. The food, however, we found to be somewhat mediocre and the indoor atmosphere is not... More

We went back again to Whales Tale and cannot RAVE enough about the ambiance, service, friendliness and FOOD! Between the BEST Lobster Roll, Huge Fresh Haddock Fish and Chips, Maine Steamers, Caesar Salad topped with Lobster, Scallops and Shrimp (YUM), and Fresh Lobsters we will continue to recommend the Whales Tale to everyone. Jack, the owner, is wonderful - he... More

We picked up a mooring at the Carousel Marina for the night. We took our dogs for a walk and the restaurant is at the marina. We were early and originally intended to just stop for a beer. They allowed us to sit outside with our well behaved dogs. We ended up staying for dinner. We both had prime rib... More

This was our second visit here, our first being 2 summers ago. We sat outside, ordered drinks and dinner, and watched the beautiful sunset. I ordered the twin lobsters which were very tasty and came with corn on the cob, fries, onion rings and cole slaw. Way too much food but it was all good. Everyone else enjoyed their salads,... More

Friendly, comfortable, great food, best view in the harbor. Hidden away, but worth seeking out! Set back from the Carousel marina, with plenty of boats and boat traffic.

good food, large portions. truly an old fashion family food place. unusually good food. basic soups, burgers, lobsters, chowders, etc. prices are too low, really. right on the water. outdoor and indoor dining. fast service. also has boat dock so you can come by water to eat. we love the place.
