This restaurant is like a business searching for an identity. It's like it wants to be a place for a romantic dinner for two, but it also wants to appeal to those people looking for some quick food or a bar scene The Good: The interior is well maintained and cozy with a large bar area and two areas for... more

We've summered in BBH for ten years but only tried 93 Townsend this season and probably won't return. The Lobster Risotto is their signiture dish (award winning!) so my husband ordered it; unfortunately, it was nothing special. My dish was equally mediocre. The bistro seating discourages intimate dining; tables are way too close together. Many better places in Boothbay Harbor... more

After reading the reviews in different publications, I was really looking forward to an outstanding meal. Well, that didn't happen here. For appetizers we had the fried aspargus (it was good) and the beet carpaccio (also very good), and the daily soup which was very thin, looked like split pea but had no flavor. For entrees we had the tuna... more

The menu featured many local seafood delicacies, but with the chef's unique twist. Fantastic and reasonably priced wine list... Well worth a visit! more

The stellar reviews from Yankee and Near East magazines are warranted for this intimate and cutting edge restaurant. The menu with the expected seafood dishes also includes some great apps (french fried asparagus with cabernet ketchup) and pasta dishes. Their take on lobster risotto while not truly a risotto (orzo pasta is substituted for the aborio rice) is still delicious... more

We ate there in August 2009 for a special night out and were disappointed. It has the decor and price points of a classy restaurant, and advertises the chef's many awards. However, the service was quite rushed; the waitress did not give us enough time to study the menu, brought out the entrees before the appetizers were cleared, and cleared... more

I've always been put off from eating at 93 Townsend because of the bland-looking dining room and the fact that it frequently looks empty. Now that I've finally tried it, I know that it is not the best option for a nice dinner in BBH. One side of the restaurant is done up with cheap looking white tables and is... more

My folks recommended 93 Townsend to me when I was visiting Maine this spring with a friend from California. The food was so wonderful that I brought my husband there when we were vacationing in the area this summer. I ordered the same thing both times because it was so delicious and something I've never seen anywhere else. It was... more

My boyfriend and I went to Boothbay Harbor with the knowledge that 93 Townsend was rated #1 in Trip Advisor and this restaurant still exceeded our expectations! I had looked at the menu prior to going and had decided on the pork. Unfortunately after being seated, the waitress informed us they were out of the pork. I was quite disappointed;... more

We're summer residents of BBH and have been for 35 years. 93 is the best we've seen and experienced in those years in the harbor. Imaginative, creative and delicious entrees with a very capable staff. If you're making one choice in the harbor for dinner, 93 is the best by far. more
