Best meal of our trip to Maine

My husband's favorite dish is cioppino, which he ordered at Ports of Italy. He absolutely raved about it -- tons of the freshest seafood, including lobster -- and the broth had many layers of flavor, unlike the tomato sauce mixed with clam juice that you often get. My lobster ravioli also were... read more

Took the family for a special dinner at Ports of Italy. Pleasantly surprised. Having traveled in Italy, we have often been disappointed by Italian restaurants in USA...but this was excellent. Good breads & wines also. Restaurant not cheap, but also not excessive. I would go again.

After hearing so many good things in town about Ports of Italy, we decided to try it for dinner. We do have a 2 year old daughter, so we are careful about where we dine. They said it wouldn't be a problem, so we made a reservation. Upon arriving, they seated us in a back corner which is not a... More

Our hosts at Topside Inn highly recommended Ports of Italy and got us a table overlooking the water. Food, service, ambiance classic Italian. We had seafood over ink pasta and a whole bass fish-of-the-day and both were exquisite. Great ford, great wine, great service.

We had a delicious meal at Ports of Italy. We showed up at this bustling restaurant in a Friday without a reservation . Lucky for us we didn't have to wait long for a table. Service was friendly and quick. Fresh buffalo mozzarella appetizer was a sensational start. Fresh pasta, excellent chianti and an ice cold limoncello made this a... More

Our innkeeper recommended this busy Northern Italian restaurant. We arrived around 6 p.m. hoping to grab two seats for dinner at the very busy bar. The maitre d' was extraordinarily accommodating and found us a perfect corner bar table instead (thank you!). The food was terrific. We live in CT, and close to NYC, where excellent Italian food is easy... More

loved the lobster in a spicey red sauce (similar to Fra Diavlo sauce). HMMMM. Wife had seafood Ciopinnoi. Great service and fine wine to pair with the food. Had reasonable priced St Emilion. We ate at 5 restaurants here and this was our favorite just ahead of Bistro and Spruce Point Inn.

Couldn't decide where to go so stumbled into Ports of Italy...hadn't been in 10 years so figured why not? Sat at the bar for a glass of wine and decided to order some apps which were delishish (caprese salad and an antipasto). Moved on to dinner options which were equally as good with decent gluten options (often hard to find).... More

We had a good meal at the ports of Italy. Don't get me wrong, we really enjoyed our meals, but we were not overwhelmed, as a lot of the reviews stated. Great drinks. And the appetizers were really well done.

Our party of 14 family members, ages 1.5 to 75, had another wonderful dining experience at the Ports last evening. The foodies to the teens all had many menu choices and absolutely no one was disappointed. The service team led by David was Italian perfection. Our permanent residence is in the New Haven area of CT. whose reputation for great... More
