The Thistle Inn is the perfect mix of fine cuisine and casual fare. We use only the freshest ingredients and everything is home made, including salad dressings, fresh baked breads and desserts. The best way to describe our food is an eclectic mix of American cuisine with a hint of international flavors. We let the availability of local produce and seafood influence the menu.

They took good care of our group

I took a group of photographers to the Thistle Inn restaurant because one of our people has celiac disease. The Thistle is known for having gluten free options and they did not disappoint in that regard. Once we were seated in the dining room we were treated to excellent friendly service and... read more

We moved to Boothbay Harbor a year ago from New York after more than 40 years visiting in Maine in the summers. We've had a wonderful time discovering the town out of season and have met many wonderful people who run the local businesses. This year, after a winter away, we've come "home" to enjoy the early days before the... More

We came to Boothbay Harbor in Septempber 2014 and wanted a nice dinner. Very nice atmosphere, great service and the food was amazing! My husband had the Lazy Lobster-perfectly cooked lobster in a butter sauce accompanied by risotto and asparagus. I had the 30 day House Aged Filet Mignon. Cooked perfectly!! We would definitely recommend coming here and we would... More

We went to our favorite restaurant last night with my visiting sister and brother in law from the Boston area. We live here and I think they come more for the trip to the Thistle, than to see us(I'm just saying) we had the best meal ever. My sister had the pub style steak, I had the braised beef, brother... Slow time of the year may well be the best for this time honored, hidden gem in Boothbay Harbor. Ask to see the new and evolving wine list and you will be astounded at the high end quality, and the new desserts are the best kept secrets in town. The service is outstanding, starting with the wonderful Hostess..

The inside is so cute. The style is very eclectic and funky. You feel like you are in an old ship or something. We had the mussels and special mushroom soup to start and they were fantastic. The food was refined but very laid back. Overall a great spot!

Perhaps our expectations were set too high. The tone was set by a server who seemed to have served way too many meals and was almost unpleasant as she shuffled through the evening, not making eye contact, not making any specific recommendations ("it all good"). Unfortunately, I lost my notes but do recall that although good, nothing that my husband... More

This was our first visit to this restaurant and it won't be the last. I love fish and chips and order it every chance I get while we are in Maine so I can tell you from lots of great experiences that this was the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. The coating on the fish was light and... More
