Description: The Thistle Inn is the perfect mix of fine cuisine and casual fare. We use only the freshest ingredients and everything is home made, including salad dressings, fresh baked breads and desserts. The best way to describe our food is an eclectic mix of American cuisine with a hint of international flavors. We let the availability of local produce and seafood influence the menu.

Wow - we've been going to midcoast Maine for decades, but for some reason never ventured out to Boothbay Harbor. This past weekend, not much was open, but we ended a long walk here on Friday night in time for Happy Hour and were surprised to find a line forming before it even opened. Now we know why. Sascha is... More

The winter menu is great for those of us who live here year round. We always go to the Thistle Inn for mussels and a spinach salad, or their blue cheese burger and sweet potato fries, both of which are great! We love to sit at the bar, if there's room, or in the booths by the wood stove. It's... More

Nothing memorable about the food, the only thing I can remember is how slow service was, the obnoxious conversations happening around us, and looking outside the window thinking about all of the other places we should have gone.

We invested over two hours of time waiting for dinner to be served. The soup was room temperature and the steak dinner, although flavorful, lukewarm. I was not about to send the dinner back to be rewarmed after waiting two hours for its delivery. The waitress was inattentive even though we repeatedly requested additional beverages she failed to deliver them.... More

We checked the limited open restaurants in town and settled on the "Thistle". A beautiful back-room, a nice bar and an ok front room make up the restaurant. The service was very friendly and efficient. The shocking thing was the prices of Lobster!! While I can get a 1 1/4 lb lobster in New York City for $25, they cost... More

We'd not been to The Thistle Restaurant in four or five years, and that was during the summer. Three of us made reservations for dinner on 12/27 at 1800. Arrived early at 1700 to find drinks at 1/2 price in the rustic bar until 1800. Sasha was tending bar by herself as well as serving a full house of about... More

We had one night in Boothbay and in Maine. I badly wanted lobster, but the reviews of the restaurants on the harbor left me cold. On the drive into town, we noticed The Thistle Inn, so we checked the reviews, and it sounded more like a locals' place. We enjoyed a great meal.

We arrived at "prime time" at the Thistle Inn on October , without reservations. We were greeted enthusiastically by Mary Lou, whom we knew from an earlier venue in the harbor. We were seated immediately (she claimed there was a cancellation :>) ) We had a wonderful meal, prepared carefully (as I must adhere to a gluten-free diet). The service... More

First The Good; Excellent restaurant. The Inn has both a Pub menu and a Full Gourmet Menu. The Tuna Tar Tar appetizer was a meal in itself. The Lobster wrapped in puff pastry was 5 stars as well. The Lobster and Filet Mignon were both cooked perfect as was the Lazy Man's Lobster. You can't go wrong in this restaurant.... More

I made a reservation for our party of ten world travelers based solely on Trip Advisor reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. The food and service were great on a busy Friday night, and the setting for our group was ideal--an upstairs room that we shared with another large party. The interior of the restaurant was about as quaint and cozy... More
