My family took a day trip to Boothbay harbor last week and ended up stopping at Bet's Famous Fish Fry for lunch based on previous reviews. We were definitely not disappointed. We ordered two fish sandwiches and had my kids split a fish in a bowl. The fish was so fresh and perfectly cooked. I am a big fan of... More

We love fish and this was some of the best ever! Bought a fish and fries which was 2 large filets and and extra 2 piece. Plenty of fries for 2 people with that order. Couldn't finish he fish so we reheated it next day in oven. Still the best. IF YOU LIKE FRIED FISH, DON'T MISS IT. Eat there... More

Yes, it's a quirky little place, and figuring out when they're open is challenging, but we ate there for lunch on July 2, and it was without a doubt, THE best fish fry I had ever had.

We stayed on Knickerbocker Lake and one day while swimming and boating we paused to grab fish and fries upon the recommendation of our rental host. A full portion is definitely enough for two as mentioned in other reviews. Really great stuff! Terrific value and taste for the price. I know great fried fish and this is some of the... More

Bet's is a fried fish shack. The menu: fried fish plain, with fries, or in a sandwich. That's it. The portion is large, and it is good fried fish. The prices have gone up since the picture on Tripadvisor was posted.

We were at a craft market across the way and when we asked a lady if her fish and chips were as good as they looked and smelled, she said 'best in the universe'. Went right over. Don't know if they are actually the best in the universe (have traveled a lot but not everywhere) but best I've ever had.... More

My wife and try to get to Bets a least twice a year. The price and portions are huge. When we bring the kids we also bring our own buns, you can order a full sandwich and fill the buns with the amount of fish you get! The fries are hand cut and awesome, crispy just the way they should... More

Finally stopped in. This is best protein I have ever had!! Better then lobster, shrimp, crab, steak, etc. The only competition it might have is scallops. No frills, one product, fried haddock. I will be back often.

The best fries I have ever had in Maine and that is what is needed when you are eating them with deep fried fish..The fish which is haddock is cooked perfectly and crispy right to the end and not greasy. The batter is excellent and the portions are grandiose! I did a review on fish and chips that I had in... More
