The half order of fish and chips comes with half a pound of fresh tasting fish. The fries are handcut. Served with huge cups of either sweet tartar or dill sauce. All is delicious and at $9 it is a good price as well.

Bet's fried fish is the best. The fish is fresh, delicious and the hardest thing is to get home fast enough to eat hot. The lack of comfortable tables to eat there keeps this eatery from being the #1 in Boothbay.

At one time a small 1970's camper was home to Bet's Famous Fish Fry. It was back in 1993, andBoothbay native and daughter of a commercial fishing family, Elizabeth Lauriat, opened up what was to become the most popular dining establishment on the common. Now, due to Bet's popularity and notoriety, she dropped the "famous" and cut to the chase...... More

Bet's haddock arrives fresh from Mill Cove daily, where it has been cut to her specifications. The sauces are made and portioned daily and on any given morning, before opening, you will see Bet hand breading her own fish. No one else is allowed to touch it..It has to be just perfect and it is. The breading is light and... More

We read the reviews and decided to give this place a try. We are so glad we did! Don't follow the directions in the link. You'll miss it. Good thing someone posted a picture of the building. We passed it and turned right around. It's across from a Baptist church. Enjoy!

Unbelievable fish fry for a road side stand! We've driven by this place for several summer now & just now we stopped in and tryed it! Great fresh fish and plenty of it! Loved the open air picnic tables as my wife & I shared a table with another family & made fast new friends! Be sure to stop by... More

We had been told not to miss Bets while visiting. We found the servings huge, the price was right, but when we asked for the French fries we had ordered and not gotten, the woman at the window was somewhat rude, and that put a damper on our evening. Bring bug spray as you will be eating at picnic tables.

Hands down the best and biggest fish sandwich anywhere to be found. Been going there every summer, at least once a week for 15 years.

This place is so great we went twice in one week. The portions are RIDICULOUSLY big - a half sandwich can feed two very hungry adults. Fish is very lightly breaded and fried to perfection. Try both the tartar sauce and the dill mayo that they offer. Not sure I have ever tasted such fresh fish!
