Best fresh fish fry!!

Every time we come to Boothbay, a stop at Betts is on the agenda! We get one fish and chips dinner for two of us and it is plenty, with enough left over foe a third person. She ably sells fish fry and fried fish sandwiches and fries. She specializes in what she sells and it is always delicious!

Bets is the real deal when it comes to her fried fish and fresh cut French fries. Pure heaven when you order the freshest fish dish you'll ever have. During our annual fall Boothbay getaways-(her fish shack is only minutes away from our Sawyers Island rental), we return several times before she closes for the season. Missing out on her... More

I am not a fish eater like may others, just never been my favorite thing, but Bet's fish is the best fish ever! Have it with her special dill tarter sauce and only order a half order for one person and the portions are huge!

Here is what Bet's makes: deep fried fish, fries and chips. No batter, no extra spicing, no tricks. If you haven't had deep fried fish ( she only uses haddock), this is where it is to be found in all its glory. To be sure, if something is boiled in oil, there will be oil on the outside. When done... More

The absolute best fish sandwich ever!! Hugh, fresh, lightly battered on a fresh roll. Half a sandwich is perfect for 2 people. The homemade chips are awesome, too and I don't even like fries usually. Try a whoopie pie to take with you for later if they have them. Impossible to eat after the sandwich, but sure great when you... More

Don't be fooled thinking you'll still be hungry if you only get 1/2 a fish sandwich meal that includes fries. I Bet's there is a pretty near a pound of fried haddock in the sandwich. there is nothing I can as negative.

I feel that the fries were soggy and greasy when I ate there also. The fish was just okay heavy batter and not much flavor.

This was our first visit of the year and we were really looking forward to it, after several excellent experiences last year. We arrived just after opening time and ordered the fish and chips. The chips were tasty but a bit soggy / greasy. The batter was overseasoned so it overpowered the flavor of the fish. The seating area was... More

The best fish and chips period. Actually thats the whole menu, but do not miss the experience of this local shack and all it has to offer. Why else did you come to Maine.
