The oldest of the old

The Palace Diner is said to be the oldest diner in Maine. Not sure if that is true or not but the lady at the counter did tell me it's been around since 1928 so it's definitely old. It's sure a cool place, a classic old diner with lots of old stuff inside. It's like walking back in time when... read more

What a great surprise. I had the Corned Beef Hash. It was the best I ever had. I was with a party of three. All of us were extremely happy with our food. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It's the best breakfast/lunch spot in southern Maine. What a gem!

Why would anyone go to Biddford? There are probably lots of reasons, but the best one I know of is breakfast at thePalace Diner. Amazing potatoes, and I don't much care for potatoes. I had the breakfast sandwich, and this is not your ordinary breakfast sandwich, in fact it is extraordinary. gooey cheese, baked egg, Applewod smoked bacon (I substituted... More

The venerable diner under new ownership is gaining national recognition and is out front of a culinary boom in this former mill town. Banana bread was yummy as are the pancakes and grilled cheese. Only seating is on stools at the counter. An experience!

I had one of the best breakfasts that I've ever had here at Palace last Sunday morning. It was simple, but special. Ham and cheese omelet, done perfectly. Tandem coffee refilled as quickly as I could drink it. Brown butter banana bread (yes you read that right). Carmelized grapefruit. Husband had the bacon, egg and cheese with superb potatoes. Biddeford... More

We went here on a weekday night as we figured we would have a better shot at getting a seat. There are only a dozen or so seats in this Pollard type vintage dining car diner. Service was warm and inviting. I got the breakfast sandwich with Applegate bacon- natural and organic. The egg was baked as a scramble and... More

Impressed w/ the way they got people in and out of this place, it is extremely popular and I can see why: omelette was light and perfectly balanced w/ some strong contenders (Brussels sprouts and gorgonzola and red onion!) and the Palace potatoes are unique in my experience.

Waited a long time to visit this wonderfully vintage diner, kept away by the lack of seating but this time I was lucky and there were lots of available stools. The food was just right, with homemade toasted cinnamon bread, good coffee and nice, crunchy potatoes with the eggs. I will try it again, for lunch next time, and suggest... More

The diner is small with 15 stools. Ordered the Challah bread french toast with maple syrup, and bacon as a side. The one slice of bread was thick and delicious, and light. Local bacon was good. Service was cordial and food arrived quite fast! Limited menu, and background music was local, but too loud for us.
