I had heard that this restaurant was good, so was looking forward to trying it. I was a little disappointed with the food. The meat was very tender and the portions were adequate, but the spices were not great. I asked for medium to hot spices and it was very mild. We had two different meat dishes, but the sauce... Have only had take-out from the restaurant but it was delicious. Malai kofta is one of my favorite dishes and they did it very well. Only thing I didn't like was the coconut in it. Not a fan of coconut texture although my husband loves it. Nan, samosas, rice and lamb were great. Will be going again soon.

Spent a week at a rented house in nearby Biddeford Pool and was very intrigued by the description of this restaurant in the "Maine Coast and Islands" travel guide published by Countryman Press. Despite all the praise from other reviewers, the place was empty on a Friday night. I guess my impression isn't fair, in that that my companion and... More

The food here is made from scratch by a lovely Indian family. The place is nicely decorated and the atmosphere good if the family kids are behaving. The food is well prepared and very tasty. It can be made to the degree of hotness you like so don't worry about it being too spicy and there are many dishes with... More

We try to get to the Jewel of India at least once a month. The wonderful smell of those delicious Indian spices greet you as you open the door. Favorites are lamb rogan josh and lamb korma. The pakora and poori are great addtions to the meal. FI someone in your party is not an Indian food fan....have them try... More

Great little find in Biddeford, Indian food as good as any I had while living in NYC. I often dine here with a friend who cannot eat dairy and they are always willing to leave it out or make something special for her. It is hard not to order 3 or 4 dishes (more food than you can possibly eat)... More

Walk into this restaurant and you get a wonderful whiff of all the good spices which go into the dishes here. The food is wonderful and authentic. Chef Prem is a master and its a nice place to sit in for a few hours. By all means try it and go back again. Try some of the dishes you have... More

I ate at this restaurant when they first opened several years ago. I had a good experience back then and wanted a repeat. Unfortunately, this was not the case during my visit in November 2013. I stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday to find it empty except for the wait staff. I tried to order some coffee (on the... More

Behind this unassuming storefront lies a pleasant surprise - authentic, delicious Indian food in the heart of downtown Biddeford. Returning today after 3 years, I was happy to see the quality of the food hasn't changed. Dishes here are authentic, flavorful and reasonably priced. The restaurant appears to be family-run, and service is pleasant and courteous. On our most recent... More
