We went to S.S. Milton for lunch this past week with our two boys. The lunch menu is a welcome departure from the other places we visited in Bethel and offered a good variety of vegetarian options for our family. The tomato bisque was delicious and so was my portabello mushroom burger. The restaurant is in an old, charming house... More

We ran into this place on a search for lunch and were very surprised and pleased to find such a special place! The food was fantastic! Great lobster roll...and clam chowder. The service was very friendly and made you feel at home. We really wanted to go back for dinner but didn't have time but we would recommend it to... More

Casual ambiance, unpretentious service, interesting menu and delicious food during an al fresco lunch on the porch w/ an attentive and chatty waitress. We enjoyed an exceptionally good apple- jack based onion soup; light, perfectly fried crab cakes; a Monte Cristo sandwich with a tasty ham served w/real maple syrup. A blueberry infused ale proved a unique accompaniment. All in... More

This is a New England home that has been converted into a nice restaurant. We were very pleased with the service and quality of the food.

Hubs and I were down from the resort, nothing open there. Glad we decided to stop there!! Chicken Oscar was divine!! Our waitress was so sweet, she took care of us and quite a few other tables, but we never felt neglected. I will definitely go back if we head to Maine again!!

I met a friend for dinner tonight at S. S. Milton and I'd recommend to others if in the Bethel area. I live 20 miles away and I had never gone here for dinner but was glad I did and will go back again. I had an oven baked piece of salmon and my friend had the haddock. Both fish... More

Cute-as-a-button decor that reminded me of my grandmother's house. The drinks were delicious and creative with blueberries galore. Hot, tasty rolls with cold butter were a treat and salad starters were quite generous. All of this had me excited for the main course which I liked but did not "wow" me for over $100 for a family of 4. I... More

We enjoyed a yummy lobster roll and an amazing grilled cheese lobster sandwich. My husband & I try to enjoy all the wonderful foods of New England. I will search for the grilled cheese/lobster recipe to try back home in Texas. Also enjoyed the fiddlefern (sp?) soup. Desserts also wonderful--loved the blueberry crisp.
