Still the best lobster pound on MDI. They even have a new bar. The quality of lobster is top notch. The view is beautiful. It's chilly mid September so bundle up. They even provide bug repellant and have expanded their parking lot. I'm glad Thurston's continues to do very well

The rumors are true This is what you look for when you visit a Lobster Pound in Maine. Rustic, charming, out of the way, locals abound and all the taste treats you would expect. You pick the lobster by size and all things lobster are offered.A must.

On a recent trip to New England we ate very well and our late lunch at Thurston's was one of, if not the best, meal of the trip. First off the setting was great, slightly off the beaten path of Mt. Desert Island. The place is right on the water with a covered deck and bar. It got a little... More

We spent a day driving through Acadia National Park and through the small towns around it and found Thurston's for lunch. I'd never seen a BLT with lobster, and since the price for the sandwich was the same as a plain lobster roll, decided to try it. It was wonderful. Hubby had a crab roll and it was just loaded... Great food, wonderful view, killer new post & beam building housing the bar, which was created by a local wood worker. The staff is just as personable as they get - excellent service. We love playing tourist there & will definitely take our out of town guests there. Thanks for all you do!!!

Location is at the end of the road, but well worth the drive. While waiting for my take-out order, I watched the most beautiful whole lobsters coming out! Had lobster roll and crab cakes, coleslaw, and blueberry spice cake, and all were delicious! A fun place!

Best lobster pound place on the island. Walk in, pick your live lobster, go to the bar and enjoy a beer while waiting about ten minutes for the lobster to be steamed. Enjoy! Wife and I had great fun. Oh -- lobster price is less than half what you pay in Portland.

Good lobster and a great atmosphere right on the water in Bernard, ME. The lobster was a little pricey with the sides we needed to add but overall a very good experience. Would definitely recommend this to someone traveling through the Mount Desert area. Great getaway from the busy tourist areas.

We had the lobster and were very happy with them. They were sweet and tender. We had them at the bar but had to order in the other room. Wine selection and prices were much better than expected.

Delicious Maine lobster. Lobsters are paid for by the pound. Casual and fun. Friendly service but long bug filled lines! Food was served pretty quickly in spite of the crowds.
