Thurston's is located in Bass Harbor on the other side of Bernard. This was a great local stop for Lobster with burgers, salads and chicken with a small kid's menu. You order when you come in and are given a number slip that you place on the table you choose to sit at. Your food is then delivered to your... More

This was my favorite lobster shack that we went to. It's right on the bay in Bernard (about 30 min away from Bar Harbor) and you pick our your lobster right there. A 2lb lobster was $22 which was pretty good. It was slightly overcooked but I didn't have a single lobster my entire trip there that wasn't somewhat overcooked... More

If you're exploring Acadia National Park, be sure you venture over to the Southwest Harbor peninsula and check out Thurston's Lobster Pound in Bernard. Follow the signs and arrive early. It is a little difficult to find and the parking spots fill up fast for lunch. The restaurant is right on the water with views of the lobster boats and... More

If you don't want to pick your own whole lobster, skip the long line and go directly to the bar room and order. Highly recommend the lobster BLT, the lobster stew was outstanding with an enormous amount of knuckle meat (read tender). Went back the next night it was so good. This is not a fancy restaurant, you order at... More

As part of the great lobster roll tasting, we tried Thurston's. Lobster Gal had downgraded them only for the size of their offering, but I have to say we had lobster over salad greens (nice ones) and there was plenty. They might have taken her suggestion that the lobster was a bit skimpy. Not so when we were there. The... More

Thanks to the totally hokey cartoon map the hotel gave us, the destination was Thurston's in lovely Bernard for an afternoon drive and noms. The ever guiding road signs to our spot heading down 102 via Southwest Harbor helped instill hope in a good lobster feast! Located on the water (overhanging decks) with abundant lobster boat and harbor views, location... More

Lobster so fresh you can see the boats they came off of. A decent menu if you are tired of seafood and want something different but make no mistake, lobster is the king here. A nice view looking out over the harbor, you can eat inside or out. We sat in the new bar area, was very nice. We would... More

MMMM, this lobster was so fresh. In the water in the morning and on our plate in the afternoon. The whole meal was good

We visited Thurston's on our last day in Maine for one more lobster dinner before going home. Wow! This was one of the best meals we had on the whole trip. Very casual atmosphere and a true lobster shack! We enjoyed the view of the water and were extremely pleased with the service and food.
