Great evening

We were parked in the RV camp near the Bass Harbour lighthouse. We walked all around the bay about 4 miles to get there. Had a good chouder and a tastefully plate of moles with a good dark ale to wash it up. on the way back it started to rain so a great guy gave us a lift on... read more

My wife and I called Thurston's 5 time to make sure we had the right phone number. Each time we called we got a recording saying "We're closed for the 2013 season and will open for the spring in 2014". I just called on 5/19/15 and they finally changed the recording to say they open on 5/22/15. We drove the... More

My husband and I visited Bar Harbor in July 2014. On recommendation from the front desk at the Inn were were staying we visited Thurston's. Though is was a bit of drive from Bar Harbor, it was a nice scenic drive. The restaurant has a great atmosphere right off the working docks. We were there later in the evening, so... More

My husband and I went to Thurston's Lobster Pound on the recommendation of the front desk staff at our hotel in Bar Harbor. Even though it was a 45-minute drive because of the road construction, it was well worth it. We arrived just in time to watch a young man filling the outdoor lobster pots to cook the lobsters used... We have been going to this place for 13 years--and just love it. It has grown over the years but still has not lost that small feel. I love sitting on the deck over the water and looking out on the ocean and having lobster that was just caught. Doesn't get any better than that!!

My family and I have been coming to Thurstons every year since I can remember. I love the simple food, sitting under the signature yellow roof and hoping to see a seal in the harbor. I've never been disappointed with a meal here. The Thurstons Ale is delicious too!!

Every once in a while I get a hankering for Thurston's and one day it may seem worthwhile to drive 20+ plus hours to get to it again. The lobster is great, the butter is even better and the setting is unique. One of those places in the world that you keep thinking about and that keep you coming back.... More

for under $20! Nice outside patio seating. Nothing fancy, this is plastic silverware, picnic style place. But if you want lobster, this is the place.

The food was decent. We got the lobster dinner, lobster roll and the steamers. The lobster dinner and the roll were fine. However, the steamers were quite sandy. We had steamers at another lobster pound the night before and did not encounter similar issue. The blueberry cake was tasty. The view from the deck was really lovely. The atmosphere was... More
