Not what it use to be.

I think the new owners are trying to hard to attract golfers. Gone is the lobster (this is Maine) and prime rib. Gone are the pictures of the town drawn around the inside of the restaurant. The duck is still OK but the charm is gone.

You have to drive a long ways to find a better restaurant in this part of Maine. Visiting the Village Inn for dinner in the Fall, you'll find a warm and cozy restaurant with lots of patrons enjoying great food at a reasonable price. I had a group of 13 and the service was excellent. In the summer, folks pull... More

From the making of the reservation by phone with Amanda (who was so friendly and suggested a window seat which we enjoyed) to everyone who made our evening and dining experience memorable: Leeanne (our Hostess/Server), Tom (our Bartender); Renee (our Server), and Mike (our Busboy/Server) - thank you! We entered The Village Inn on a chilly and windy November evening,... More

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your recent visit to The Village Inn and Tavern. Had we had the opportunity to address your impressions while you were here, we would have been able to explain that as a seasonal restaurant, lobster appears on our menu in the "off-season" only on a specials basis, as there are... We were in town to play Belgrade Lakes Golf Course (play it!!!), and several of the staff their suggested The Village Inn when we asked about a good place to eat. We sat outside overlooking a small inlet off the lake, with ducks swimming and kayakers gliding by. All that didn't distract from the varied and interesting menu. I had... More

Excellent food with many options to offer; wine list is very good as are the specialty cocktails. Service was gracious and attentive. Outdoor dining on the pond/lake is available and very family friendly.

For many years I have dined at The Village Inn and Tavern in Belgrade Lakes and over the years I have witnessed many changes in the restaurant's owners, chefs and general management. Recently The Village Inn underwent a change in ownership and an amazing change in decor and an upgraded flavor profile in their menu. Kate and Heather, (the new... More

We enjoyed eating outside. It was a beautiful evening. We watched the boats come and go and enjoyed being outside. Our food came in a timely manner. I had the kicked up duck, my spouse had the roasted chicken. Both meals were delicious, warm, flavorful. We enjoyed our meal and would gladly go again when we are in the area.... More

I was so very glad when this place changed hands as the prior owner (um, OK I'll stop short of expressing my personal feelings for prior management) but I will say that Kate and Heather are very pleasant and gracious hosts, are not overbearing and intrusive, AND most importantly the food has gone from sub-sub-sub par to delicious and interesting... Wonderful Maine inn on the water in Belgrade Lakes! Watch the sunset and ducks swimming, boaters coming to dock their watercraft and enjoy drinks or a meal--old fashioned Maine with great cuisine and service! Summer and spectacular setting and food--doesn't get any better than this!

I was visiting a friend renting a house on Long Lake and had no expectations for restaurants in the area--just focusing on kayaking and hiking. He had heard about the duck here, so we went for dinner. Mmmmm, mmmmm: that duck! Tender meat, crispy skin, divinely sauced (I chose the apricot), and incredibly flavorful--all for $19, including two yummy sides!... More
