This is by far a magical place. The owner was extremely helpful and patient. We ordered the pork dumplings, chicken rams, and my favorite the Cornish game hen. The flavors were so fresh and addictive. The vegetables were picked from the garden and so good. The tomato chili sauce paired perfectly with the incredibly spiced hen! Everyone in the restaurant... OMG, the best "authentic" Thai, Laotian-Vietnamese food. Took a day road trip from Bar Harbor to Belfast and found this gem. We had Gyoza (dumplings) for an appetizer and they were the best ever. Husband used to eat them by the bag full from street vendors in Vietnam. He had Pho (Vietnamese style noodle soup) that he also ate there... More

Great spot in Belfast, Maine - not to be missed! The depth of flavor in the sauces and broths is sophisticated and layered. It's a small cafe and so charming with the owner and chef preparing the food and we were lucky to stop in when her daughter was there to help serve customers. Go early as some of the... More

tiny outdoor dining, overlooking harbour. Excellent laotian, thai and vietnamese food. We go back to Belfast annually just to eat in this restaurant. The only drawback is that in inclement weather, there is only take out orders. They grow their own vegetables, herbs, and make their own delicious sausages. It's the place to visit if up in Maine.

Forget the Lobster Roll!! You might forget all about take-out seafood once you see fresh veggies being sliced in the immaculate open kitchen and savor the exquisite Thai Lao spices in every dish. The chive dumplings and the mango sticky rice were to die for. It is also worth mentioning that the deck on the restaurant has one of the... More

My husband and i were in the mood for Thai food and saw the review of Laan Xang on Tripadvisor. We ordered over the phone and in no time our order was ready to picked up. We had a delightful picnic on the terrace of our B and B. The staff is very accommodating and made one of the hotter... More

This was the best Thai food we've eaten! Great steamed dumplings, pad thai, and Thai traditional fried rice. If you get burned out on seafood, you must try this restaurant.

I've lived in Laos and Thailand for years. I know the real deal when I dine, and Laan Xang (Million Elephants) is it. They cut no corners to Americanize their dishes. The Pla Mok (Fish Pocket) is genuinely spiced with fresh lemon grass and is cooked in real banana leaves. The noodle dishes are as good as I've had in... More

We decided to take a meandering drive and went into Belfast looking for something good to eat. Checked TripAdvisor and found Laan Xang. We were craving Thai and this was perfect. While doing mostly take-out, there are a few tables. We grabbed one while watching the steady stream of locals come and go. The Pho was amazing, along with Pad... More

This is the best of the 25+ Asian restaurants we have tried in Maine. The food has subtle flavors and every dish has a different sauce. This is a second generation restaurant; the first was in Connecticut. Here they have a farm where they raise veggies in season. There is a great harbor view from the deck but the dining... More
