See that sandwich in their photo? Thick, generously full, and well-made? Fuggettaboutit. The spicey roast beef, for $7.50, came on two toasted sandwich halves that were provided each with very small clumps of beef that didn't even fill half each piece. Think of this as an appetizer with a teasing taste of beef, and you'll be happy. Oh, and if... More

Cool atmosphere with interestinga dn charming decor. Food is very good, but portions a bit small, at least for breakfast. Good prices and nice staff.

We found this place almost by accident while looking for lunch before visiting the Maritime museum. Funky vibe, simple but interesting decor, good quality food with a little twist. One of the best meals on our recent trip and also one of the least expensive. Go figure.

We treated ourselves on our first morning's vacation. Tucked away, around the corner, a hidden find if you have already eaten at Mae's Café.

The most wonderful staff serving good homey food better than mom makes ... our favorites include the scones (white chocolate raspberry), any cookie in the jars that temp you at the order counter... the Thanksgiving sandwiches, the Avocado lobster roll, Whatever special is on the chalkboard, The chocolate chip pancakes and the soups (turkey barley especially) .... Really such a... More

We've visited Starlight Cafe many times for lunch and have never been disappointed. Breakfast was no different. As mentioned, the restaurant itself is not fancy, quaint would be my description. You order at the counter when you come in, pay, give a name and then seat yourself at one of perhaps thirty spots (tables and counter) and when ready, the... More

Delicious, friendly, tasty! Get the toast made from recipe if the cook's grandmother! Tabasco available, always a sign of a good restaurant.

Fun place, seemed like a popular spot for locals. Not fancy, but we enjoyed our breakfasts and are sorry we discovered it right before heading home. We'll go back next year.

This casual little breakfast and lunch place is a diamond in the rough, a wonderful find. It is hidden away in the basement of a building on Front Street, next to the old Customs House and near the Kennebec. Everything about it was delightful. The food, all fresh and homemade, included many of the usual items, but some imaginative and... More
