Ichiban located on Union Street in Bangor, Maine is a great place to eat at their bar, or with the whole family at one of their tables. This is not the typical franchise Ichiban that you find in shopping mall food courts. This is a full restaurant. Very Fast & Friendly Service, Nice decor, Very Good Food prepared in front... More

And that's coming from a sushi snob. First, the bad news. While I loved the way the place looked and was greeted warmly both by the gracious owner/chef Walter and our lovely server Keelin, I did notice that the bathroom, when I went to wash my hands before the meal, was a bit unkempt. I overlooked it due to the... More

Maybe the best in Maine! The alligator maki is everyone's favorite but they have a crazy variety of maki rolls to chose from. Ichiban makes EVERYTHING from scratch... The dumplings, all sauces, the salad dressing (YUM) We usually end with a array of sashimi. The quality and consistency is always perfect. Walter is such a hard worker and is very... More

I used to go out for sushi often years ago and back then Ichiban was the place for sushi in Bangor. There are lots of choices now but Ichiban remains on top. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I have never been disappointed.

Many options here. The owners are super nice. I can't say anything stands out but I have enjoyed everything that I have gotten:)

relaxed atmosphere with a much broader menu than I expected in Bangor, Maine. Staff was friendly, but might have been a little more attentive. Food was fresh and well prepared. Selection of beer is narrow.

When I go to an ethnic restaurant, I want food that is authentic, or authentic with a twist. I don't like going to an Oriental restaurant that claims to do it all...Chinese, Thai, Sushi, and so on. Ichiban is a true Japanese restaurant with a very good sushi bar. I've had many of their dishes and all were good to... More

This small establishment serves traditional and creative Japanese dishes of unfailingly high quality. Atmosphere is quiet and intimate (not crowded), service is prompt and waitstaff is knowledgeable. The number of Japanese restaurants in the area has increased greatly in the past few years but none has surpassed this original establishment for quality and authenticity. (This is not a steakhouse with... More

We were down to do some shopping from NB, Canada and were looking for something different. We went arounds 3 pm, it was just us but there were many take out orders. We sat at the bar, so sushi was prepared right in-front of us and served as it was prepared. Scallop roll was the best we tried- must have.... More
