We've owned a home outside of Bangor for seventeen years and recently went to a family dinner at Governor's for the first time since eating there maybe fifteen years ago. There are many somewhat middle-of-the-road dining options in Bangor; and I always thought of Governor's as one of those kind of boring places, albeit with a train running along a... More

Hubby and I ate here instead of the continental breakfast offered at our hotel. We both got the omelets - I ordered 2 egg Mexican omelet. Really good, and filling. Even included toast and coffee. The coffee wasn't great, but hey, its a diner! Service was prompt and professional. Would go back.

We enjoyed our trip to Governor's during our recent trip to Bangor. Please save room for desert- it's excellent! We went for dinner but I'd wager their breakfasts are fit for kings. Their baked goods (and rolls) were top notch. The staff were super friendly and the place is frequented by locals. The place could use some updating in the... More

After a long day on the road we enjoyed a great meal and excellent service. My husband had chicken Marsala and I had liver. Both excellent choices. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

First let me say I've eaten the Fisherman's Platter on several occasions at the Waterville & Old Town restaurants. The food has always been very good to excellent; I do prefer the Waterville place, but both are good.....HOWEVER, the Bangor restaurant's version of the seafood platter is AWFUL !!!... The seafood is fried in a batter SOOOO heavy & thick,... More

My family eats here quite a lot, both eat in and take out. It is a great value as the portions are generous. The desserts are awesome! I love the lemon pie. If you get take out the desserts are right in front of you- so tempting- while they get your order for you. If you do eat in make... More

After a long day on the room we needed a good meal. Sara served us quickly and efficiently and looked after all of our needs. My wife and I both had the broiled haddock - very tasty.

Governor's is one of the few places you can count on to be kid-friendly and a very good value. The breads and desserts are well above standard restaurant fare. The portions of everything are extremely generous. If you go at peak meal times, you may have to wait (in front of a very tempting display of desserts), but it will... More

Once again Governor's didn't disappoint. It's had a bit of a facelift since our last visit, which looks nice, but the caliber and quantity of the meals remains the same. Great value and an extensive menu, as well as the in-house bakery ... keep bringing us back.

Nice old fashioned restaurant, not much to look at other than the train that goes around the room. The food is ok nothing fancy. The staff was very friendly, and ready to serve you. Now the desserts is where it is. They have a ton of options so make sure you save space for dessert, you will not regret it!!
