I'm not a regular here, and may have just visited on a bad night, but this is my experience: Stopped in at Govenor's Bangor a few days before Thanksgiving and received a lesson on how NOT to cook a turkey dinner :-( 1. Meat was under cooked and served near room temperature. 2. Meat was served in large chunks instead... More

Governor's used to be a reliable, inexpensive place to take the family anytime but in the past year the Broadway location has become unworthy of a visit. The food was mediocre and cold, the service the same. We used to eat there frequently but our October visit will be our last,

All the typical hearty comfort food that is expected at a diner, plus lobster rolls. Plenty fresh sugary deserts. Many juicy burger varieties and lots of fried food. It does not have overwhelming number of menu choices as a NY-NJ diner has, featuring hundred of items, but Governor's selections are good old fashion food.

We recently ate here one night on the way home. The food is good but very "plain". It is, I guess, home style. Not to say there is anything wrong with that, it was plentiful and tasty. It is a good value for the money and the staff was very pleasant and helpful.

A great little roadhouse style eatery. They have several locations - we tried the one in Bangor and the one in Old Town. Fairly large portions - service was excellent - desserts & bakery have a very large and tasteful selection - id you like "treats" - order a LIGHT main and save space for the desserts - you will... When we travel through Maine Governor's restaurant and bakery is always a must. Not only do the kids like the train that travels around the restaurant the food is delicious. I have done the buffets and regular menu items and I never leave unsatisfied. I can still smell the homemade rolls, yummy! Its a must to try.

SLOW, UNCARING waitstaff. I mean SLOW...like 22 minutes to be ACKNOWLEDGED!!! Then the food was SLOWER. We were told it was because it was busy. (there were a dozen or more EMPTY tables!!) Food was cold (OBVIOUSLY slowness was NOT kitchen. Because of the slowness ordering we ordered 2 grilled cheese...we were tight for time at this point.... after another... More

We've owned a home outside of Bangor for seventeen years and recently went to a family dinner at Governor's for the first time since eating there maybe fifteen years ago. There are many somewhat middle-of-the-road dining options in Bangor; and I always thought of Governor's as one of those kind of boring places, albeit with a train running along a... More

Hubby and I ate here instead of the continental breakfast offered at our hotel. We both got the omelets - I ordered 2 egg Mexican omelet. Really good, and filling. Even included toast and coffee. The coffee wasn't great, but hey, its a diner! Service was prompt and professional. Would go back.

We enjoyed our trip to Governor's during our recent trip to Bangor. Please save room for desert- it's excellent! We went for dinner but I'd wager their breakfasts are fit for kings. Their baked goods (and rolls) were top notch. The staff were super friendly and the place is frequented by locals. The place could use some updating in the... More
