A Maine Tradition

its a Maine tradition. This is a small chain only in Maine. One family owned. The food is good. The decor is unique and interesting the service is ok but they do get busy at times. I say take the family. And go for it. All. governor's in Maine will be at the same level. Yes you should eat here

The service staff are just plain weird. The only time our waiter checked on us was when they were hoping we were finished and wanted to get us out the door. There was no line waiting to get in either. The food was just ok......not as 'homemade' as they advertise it to be.

Great all around experience for some truly local cuisine. Took my 2 sons there and was able to fill them up with the portions provided. Staff was awesome.

I am a nice person until I'm hungry and you promise to bring me a roll right away while I wait for my meal and then you don't. We waited 15 min to get our drinks.. (I asked for my roll at the point and she said yes right away) 30 minutes later and 3 different trips by our table... More

Its been a while since we had been here because its never a good experience when we go. (bad food, bad service, etc) I have a go gov card and since it was my birth month, they put $7 on the card. So I thought, why not try it again? We went for breakfast. They had value breakfasts and there... More

I'm not a regular here, and may have just visited on a bad night, but this is my experience: Stopped in at Govenor's Bangor a few days before Thanksgiving and received a lesson on how NOT to cook a turkey dinner :-( 1. Meat was under cooked and served near room temperature. 2. Meat was served in large chunks instead... More

Governor's used to be a reliable, inexpensive place to take the family anytime but in the past year the Broadway location has become unworthy of a visit. The food was mediocre and cold, the service the same. We used to eat there frequently but our October visit will be our last,

All the typical hearty comfort food that is expected at a diner, plus lobster rolls. Plenty fresh sugary deserts. Many juicy burger varieties and lots of fried food. It does not have overwhelming number of menu choices as a NY-NJ diner has, featuring hundred of items, but Governor's selections are good old fashion food.

We recently ate here one night on the way home. The food is good but very "plain". It is, I guess, home style. Not to say there is anything wrong with that, it was plentiful and tasty. It is a good value for the money and the staff was very pleasant and helpful.
