Today my husband and I picked up our grandson and took him for a late lunch. Had not eaten at Captian Nicks, thought we would give it a try....Grandson got steak, it was less than mediocre. Husband ordered sword fish..it was the daily special. Fish was dry, over cooked, over seasoned and My husband believed it probably had been frozen.... More

I'm from Mass and I had higher expectations for the fish and chips here. I guess I should have realized when its a Friday Nught and not many customers that this would have told me something.

When you live in Nova Scotia, it is hard to order seafood when you travel, but this restaurant in Bangor Maine, specializes in seafood and it did not disappoint. I had a Haddock sandwich and it was delicious with a large piece of fresh fish cooked very well with just enough batter on a nice sized bun that did not... More

Had the lobster and it was ok. Hard to mess up a baked potato and a salad. Everything was average. I was sitting within ear shot of the bar where there was a couple of drunk female patrons. They were screaming and laughing and yelling they had to go "pee". That pretty much had done it for my dinner. I... More

We had a terrific dinner of fish stew, lobsters, shrimp and salad. Had a new waitress who was funny and overall did a good job serving. We had to remind her about the drinks but no big deal.

I stopped here while travelling through Bangor. At first glance the restaurant is very outdated and could stand a few renovations. The food is very good. I ate the fish and chips - excellent - though the portions are very large! The staff is friendly and helpful.

I have eaten at Captain Nicks at least a half dozen times at the request of friends. It has been there for years so the restaurant must be doing something right. Last trip I had the haddock supreme with seafood stuffing. It was mostly just seasoned bread crumbs and buttery sauce. Someone else had salmon which was overcooked. It is... More

We went to Captain Nick's while in Bangor last week, I've been there once or twice before for lunch, a few years ago. We all had steamers (clams) as an appetizer. The clams were fine, but dirty (clams live in mud, I know, but there are ways to clean them a bit better), the broth had no flavor, and be... More

One of the best values around. The food was great, and Bob, the waiter was excellent.

This restaurant was close to our hotel at Bangor Airport, and was recommended by the front desk staff. The decor inside the restaurant is a bit worn, and could use some modernization, but it seemed to be populated by many locals who value it for the food. Portions were large, which made it a great value. Both my son and... More
