Hopes a bit dashed

I guess I'll begin at the beginning. ..steamers full of sand and rocks, I believe the two people in the party that ordered them were comparing who had the largest rock approximately 5 good sized per batch. Sand well that happens with clams, but not rocks. I had scallops broiled. Very good. Waiter... read more

Had to drop someone at the Bangor Airport and got a tip about this place. I think the best Haddock Chowder I have ever had. They keep it simple, which is the secret to great chowder. Home made roll. That was all we had for lunch. If the Chowder is any indication I bet everything on the menu is done... More

I stopped for dinner and had the twin lobster dinner. I hate that it was out of season so prices were a little high but it was still a very good meal. Was def the best lobster I have had but that is comparing to many lobsters I have eaten down south and other places. I would recommend to travelers... More

I waffled between voting this restaurant between average and very good. There needs to be a choice between them! Good is the rating I would give! Captain Nicks is iconic in Bangor, they do seafood quite well and boast the very best of steaks. My partner and I shared the 'Ultimate Prime Rib' last night and though the beef was... More

The menu was exactly what we were looking for . The service and food was excellent. We'll go back every time we're in Bangor. In fact, I'll be traveling into the states tomorrow and I'm having lunch there going to and from Boston. It was clean, service great and the food delicious.

We were weary about going here, as it didn't look appetizing from the outside. But were we ever happy we did!! The food was amazing!! And so was the service!! I will go back every time I visit Bangor!!

The place needs an update really bad. Probably been in that same condition for 20+ years, smells old. Food wasn't horrible but there is much better in the area. Over priced. Waitress acted like she'd rather be any place else. We will go back but only as a last resort.

This is a good local place to go to get out of the chain rut. It is close and convenient to BGR. It is what it appears - primarily seafood with some other choices as well. The food as well as the service were very good. The decor was nautical-themed and had some fun touches (see pics). I did not... More

Everything about our meals was outstanding, from the drinks through dinner entrees. First you are served a homemade parker house type roll that is to die for, with butter. Ordered Caesar salads and the dressing was great with homemade croutons and shaved cheese on top - one the better Caesar salads we've had. The baked stuffed shrimp was the best... More

10/10/14 food and service were very good here. The lobster roll is the best bang for the dollar. The single lobster and the lazy man lobster meals are double the price of that in Bar Harbor 40 miles away
