Stopped in after a relaxing day in Bangor. No reservation but they squeezed us in happily. Very friendly staff, excellent drinks, lovely decor. The cornbread and molasses was a nice change, salad was delicious. The only negative was that the locally raised beef was not lean but tough and seemed to be cut wrong maybe. When asked about it the... More

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed dinner at the Fiddlehead Restaurant. Reservations are recommended as the restaurant is very popular and not too large. We were warmly greeted and immediately shown to our table. The atmosphere is casual with wood floors and brick walls. The restaurant is within a restored building which it shares with Massimo. The menu is varied and... More

I've enjoyed excellent food and service at Fiddlehead at least twice now, and would have gone more often, but they are small, and real good, and without a reservation, I've not been lucky all that often. Food is an eclectic mix of well prepared appetizers and entres, wines are thoughtfully chosen to match their foods and the servers are well... More

We had dined at The Fiddlehead a few times, but that was a while ago. Three of us went again recently and had a grand time. Cozy atmosphere in this thoughtfully renovated historic building in downtown Bangor. Limited seating at the dozen +/- tables or at the bar = reservations recommended. The menu offers an assortment of interesting dishes. Wine... More

Tonight's dinner was a birthday celebration for a very close friend. We were 4 women, of whom 3 had been previous Fiddlehead customers. I was the only one from out of state. From the beginning, we were treated shabbily. This trend continued and worsened over the next 2+ hours as we patiently waited for our meal to arrive, and culminated... More

My wife and I had not planned to dine here until I read the Bangor section of the latest Moon travel guide for Maine upon our arrival in Bangor mid Saturday afternoon (14 Jun 2014). We had been in Island Falls, Maine, for a few days and were returning to Bangor for an overnight stay before our flight back home... More

we drove by on a Saturday evening just when they opened...normally its packed when we drive by an hour later, but we took the opportunity and went in...my wife, who has been there several times, kept wanting to take me there so we finally made it.... I think the menu could have had a few more entrees but what we... More

Reservations are recommended as it is a bit small, which makes it the perfect setting for a romantic night out. The food will also offer memorable mixtures of flavors. I recommend enhancing your meal with a recommended wine from your server and to leave room to enjoy a decadent dessert at the end of your meal. The staff are very... More

Reservations are suggested, though we got in with no problem on a Thursday, late. We were greeted promptly and pleasantly, though my observation that the wheelchair lift on the staircase was HUGE was not met with a laugh. Anyway................. Our server (David) was speedy, friendly and on the numbers. He suggested and then brought several samples of wine for me... More

The food is good, and especially inventive for Bangor/Eastern Maine. BUT the owner/hostess Laura is moody, temperamental, and just odd! You never know if she will be friendly and accommodating or rude and easily offended. Don't send anything back, ie an undercooked burger! She will go off the edge. Massimo of Massimo's just across the solarium is the polar opposite.... More
