A surprisingly good Italian restaurant so far from Boston's North End and Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Very friendly and informative staff (thank you, Marilyn). The braised lamb shank was fork tender, perfectly spiced and absolutely top notch. The pastas were exceptional with truly amazing sauses, like those your Nonna would make every Sunday. The eggplant antipasto just devine. The... More

Very nice ambiance, great service and great food too. Prices are reasonable. I read a few reviews about here saying, "the prices are too high for Bangor." I'm not sure what they are trying to imply by saying that. Just go to the mall and you'll find way more stuff overpriced. As someone who works in the food industry and... More

My wife and I eat here as often as we can. This past trip was our anniversary. The only minor critique I can offer is that, at busy times, service can be slow. We initially waited quite a few minutes for our drinks to arrive. After that, though, the service was excellent. I'm not sure if the drink ordeal was... More

The food was excellent. Had a very nice Valpolicello by the glass at a reasonable price. Atmosphere is pleasant. Service was quite good but I did early before it became busy. Would like to return to try some of the other entrees. Felt prices were quite reasonable for a very high quality dinning experience.

Some reviewers rate it as the best Italian of the Eastern Seaboard... but a lot needs to be improved and the place is overpriced for Bangor. Starting with the reservation system: they tend not to honor reservations, even turning back customers showing on time. In our case, despite having a guaranteed reservation, we still had to wait 15 minutes watching... More

Two nights ago my wife and I decided to have dinner at Massimo’s. We arrived around 7:45 pm and the interior door of the restaurant would not open though the place was occupied with staff and patrons. So, we knocked on the door and finally a staff person partially opened the door and without any semblance of graciousness curtly told... More

Four of us were asked to leave this restaurant because apparently the chef didn't like what we were saying in a PRIVATE conversation at our table. this was after the waitress informed one of us the chef would not substitute another pasta for linguini, and decidedly informed another the chef only prepares meat medium rare, never medium. I'm all for... More

This place has nice ambiance. The food is good and the portions are larger than expected. Even the beer wine selection is good. But the prices are just too high - $250+ for just people. Paper napkins for that price?

We started with Caprese, which was wonderful. I ordered Rigatoni Alla Bolognese - a traditional meat sauce, which reminded me of what we eat in Italy, simply wonderful. The bad ranting came from my wife's dish, which she had to send back; Linguine con Le Cozze - mussels in white wine sauce with garlic and tomato. It tasted very fishy... More

Wow that was good! Perfect sauces. Excellent service. Massimo is charming, refreshing and very talented. Perhaps my new favorite Italian resturant. Unbelievable homemade crusty bread made in the bakery next door.
