We used to visit frequently when our daughter attended a nearby college, and always enjoyed the experience. First time back in about 10 years, as we rented a place on the island for the week. Visited for lunch, restaurant was less than half full. Seated right away, but no server for 10 minutes. When she appeared, wife asked about gluten... More

We arrived via the Casco Bay Lines ferry on Monday, 6/30/2014 at noon. A fellow named Jason was our waiter. My friend and I had low expectations since we both had read the comments posted here the day before we left. In retrospect, the food was fresh and perfectly prepared. She and I both agree it was worth every penny.... More

We usually come here once/twice a year in hopes that they've improved all around. More often than not, coastal restaurants fall well short of the l 5 star location with their spectacular waterfront locations. Pride, ownership, and happy employees set the tone for how the food will eventually be prepared, cooked, served and received, and most if all enjoyed by... More

So our most recent experience was mixed. She was pretty happy with her scallops. I was quite disappointed with the Haddock Florentine special, which wasn't much like the description the server gave us. There was no typical creamy white cheesy sauce on, besides or under the fish. Fish was cooked okay, but wasn't like any Florentine I've ever had. Still,... More

I have had decent meals here over the years ... haddock sandwich, burgers, shrimp, oysters, etc. However, I have also had the two worst meals in twenty years of going to Orrs Island. This spring, I went for dinner and ordered broiled fish and a baked potato. The baked potato was old and reheated, and the fish was completely overcooked.... More

Sheila, I'm very sorry to hear about your experience. It sounds like your meal certainly wasn't up to the standards we set for ourselves. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention and hope you'll give us another chance sometime. More

The ride to Cook's is always pleasant on a nice day with such beautiful scenic views. Dining at Cook's this Mother's Day was a disappointment. The service was good, considering how busy they were, but the food was definitely lacking. Two of us had the special: petite sirloin steak with "2 split lobster tails". It was actually one lobster tail... More

Dining here gives you the feel as tho you caught the Lobster yourself and someone is in your kitchen preparing it for you. It feels like quaint New England style at it's finest. It doesn't get more New England than Cook's Lobster House.

The food is mediocre, although the service is usually quite good. The view over Harpswell Sound, particularly at sunset may make the long drive from Cook's Corner worth it. However, most people who live in Harpswell consider it a "tourist trap" that is over-priced.

This is diffidently a tourist trap! Average at best and way to expensive when you have so many other amazing choices. We have been there three times now, basically because they were open when our favorites were closed. Dated, poor service, average food at best. Must be living on the name they made from years ago. They need a visit... More
