Not sure it's worth the effort

We had read about Mosca's and were excited to try it. We rented a car and drove there from NOLA. We didn't mind that it wasn't fancy, but the food was not memorable. The salad was over salted. And the entrees were unimaginative. The best thing in my mind was the plain red sauce over spaghetti. The... read more

Brought some locals who had never been there. Unfortunately, we arrived during an all-girl birthday celebration and, although I can appreciate the fun, Mosca's is loud enough without adding a juke box and singing! Our server was wonderful and we did the traditional standards, i.e. Italian salad - average with simple oil and vinegar. Oysters Mosca - good, but why... More

Fifteen miles west of the Big E Z, Mosca's is an unpretentious neighborhood restaurant, except there is no hood. It's out of town but worth the drive. Oysters Mosca is a blend of oysters, GARLIC, butter, olive oil, breab crumbs and secret herbs ans spices then baked for 45 minutes. Add a side of pasta bordoulaise and a bottle of... More

I was part of group of about 15 people and I would not recommend going to Mosca's with more than eight people. As other reviews have stated, this restaurant is old and traditional. Which means that the concept of credit cards (so bring cash, although they do have an ATM) and separate checks has not caught up to Mosca's management.... More

Mosca's is a local legend. The food is excellent and has set the standard for local Italian Restaurants. The menu has been the same for decades. I have tried most everything on the menu and I have never been disappointed. If you plan on visiting Mosca's, MAKE A RESERVATION !!!!

Not worth the hype - CRAB SALAD Heavy on the vinegar and light on the crab BREAD Excellent, served hot and fresh SPAGHETTI MEATBALLS Mediocre, nothing special MOSCA'S SHRIMP Very good but had better in the quarter for less and they charge close to 40 bucks for a lousy 10 shrimp

This is a restaurant that has Sicilian roots. My grand parents ,from Sicily, and my parents took me there years ago. The meals are some of Sicily but with lots of local flavor. The Oysters and Shrimp Mosca are to die for. The gravies and sauces are the best I have eaten. There is a Chicken Grande cooked with herbs... More

Can't believe the poor reviews. Always been a must stop when we visit New Orleans! Sometimes we've came just for Mosca's! Excellent food and great old time feel.

Take a step back in time at Moscas. Located just outside New Orleans, this place has the authentic feel of old Italy. Located in an unassuming building on the side of the highway. Inside still keeps cool with window unit air conditioner. Besides all of the non-traditional modern amenities, the food and experience in Moscas is top notch. Ask the... More

As my title states "Ultimate Favorite" The food, the atmosphere and the service is over the top. I love the oyster mosca and shrimp mosca. The cheese cake that has a slight lemon flavor is so good. I also get the spaghetti with one meat ball. It is always good to have a little left over for the next day.... More
