We have been meaning to try out this place for a while It seems to have a bit of an identity crisis going on We felt that it didnt have a pub atmosphere...more of a grannies front room experience. Yorkshire tea advertising throughout the bar and lounge area......cafe styling perhaps ?? The Sunday lunch was ok home cooked but lacked... More

Whilst we endeavour to do our best for all of our customers, we do understand we can't please everybody. We welcome feedback in person or on review sites such as these. As we promote in our advertising and on our website "we offer excellent quality meals, made from fresh seasonal ingredients cooked simply and to perfection". So, for you to... More

Fantastic!!! Kids loved it. Better half loved it. I got drunk eating fine food. Fair money for fair food. It's going through re-development. But has real / craft beers, wide selection of vine and other drinks. We will be back. Book to avoid disappointment.

I live fairly local and have passed The White Swan numerous times with the thought that I'd call in sometime, so I booked a table for Sunday lunch for myself & partner. On arrival we parked in the ample car park to the rear of the premises, which also has a good seating area for those warm sunny days. I... More

This pub/restaurant is in the process of refurbismment. The owners were previously the owners of the white swan at Wighill. The restaurant was newly decorated and very attractive. The food was excellent especially the smoked salmon starter which is to be recommended. I had the meal of the day which was a beautiful fresh piece of battered haddock with hand... More

After a few hours driving north from Chelmsford, a break was definitely required. We took a left hand 90degree turn off the A64 we ambled through a couple of small hamlets before spotting a well placed sign on the corner of a small turn off...The White Swan.... we followed like Alice and found what we thought was a tiny quaint... I recently enjoyed several meals at The White Swan in the small village of Thornton Le Clay and I was very impressed. We received a warm welcome from the staff and were seated quickly. There was a great choice of meals on the menu. The food came out piping hot and was very tasty. We met the landlady who was... More

We received a nice friendly welcome on entering this pub. The interior is very nice, having been refurbished, the tables are nice and I loved the comfortable chairs. My husband had a smoked salmon starter which he said was delicious and we both had steak and ale pie, chips and nice crispy fresh and varied veg. I had Eton Mess... More

I have had 2 meals here now over 2months with 3 of my friends. Everyone had fantastic food (the steaks where spot on every time) the menu + the specials menu meant there was lots to choose from. The place was clean, friendly - the waitress was excellent. Set in a peaceful location. Even though we went on a Friday... More

If we are travelling to the Yorkshire Coast and aren't in a tearing hurry, we prefer to use the back roads rather than the A64. We know that there are plenty of village pubs in the area and, having travelled through Strensall Common and Flaxton, we saw a sign at the turn-off to Thornton-le-Clay (just past the railway crossing) which...
