They've lost their view, but the food is as good as ever. Try the crabmeat au'gratin - it is to die for. I also like their oyster po-boys. It's now located on Hwy 190, about 1 mile east of the Mall, and before you get to the theater. more

I haven't been to the New Vera's as of yet but it is no longer a waterfront restaurant on Lake Ponchartrain. They have reopen in Slidell in the vacinity of the Mall on Gause Blvd more

A local ref us and we were excited to come to your place until we got our food. A doz. half shell oysters was the only thing we found to be excellent. Oyster stew was in a huge bowl with way too much milk for the number of oysters, expected better. We had to add many crackers to make it... more

We had a GREAT lunch at Vera's after taking the Honey Island Swamp Tour. Vera's is what I think of as a classic fried seafood joint. It sits on stilts over Lake Ponchartrain at the end of the road. Inside there's a comforable looking bar, dark wood floors, and plenty of booths around the edges overlooking the water. The waitstaff... more
