Price range: $10 - $25
Cuisines: American

Description: Founded in 1991 Southside Cafe opened at the current location on Pontchartrain Drive. The building originally opened in 1987 as a local donut franchise by Dan and Sharon DeBlanc. Expanded in 1994 to almost double the capacity, Southside had slowly grown into favorite meeting spot. It also had become one of the most patriotic places to eat. Fueled by the rising patriotism brought about by the Iraqi war, and Dan being a former Marine Corps Helicopter pilot, the restaurant soon became a type of meeting place for hungry patriots to eat, drink and congregate. With the overwhelming support of the community over the last 20 plus years, Dan, Sharon and Chris have strived to provide that comfortable local joint, were you celebrate birthdays, graduation or just having a great meal. With a staff and customers that includes over three generations; Southside Cafe is looking forward to the next 20 years! Don't Ever Give Up!

I go here once a year when in the area to go fishing with friends. they have a expansive menu and I have never had a bad meal. Great variety of local dishes and their own creations. it is a never miss when in the area.

My wife and I went away for a quick getaway and stopped by for lunch. The food was very good and the service was fine. My only other thought is, this is not a place for couples to have a quiet conversation. Everything was loud. The cafe was decorated for fun and people were having good food and a good... More

We stopped for lunch on 7-5-2014 after being referred by our captain on the swamp tour. We got to place our order for drinks- a few minutes later (15) our order for appetizers. The table next to us had 4 people who finished eating, the table cleaned, the next group seated and orders taken. They were eating before our waitress... More

This place is great for families! Casual noise, good kids menu, and laid back atmosphere, and it was clean! We have picky eaters and the menu offered something for everyone! One word of caution., huge portions!

It took two hours for our party of eight to get food. The four children were so hungry! An hour an a half of that was after we'd gotten the table! The table of twenty that was sat well after of us ate thirty minutes before us! The waitress could have at least taken care of getting the kids food... More

There are soooo many places to choose from in Slidell we had a hard time choosing but we were very pleased with our decision to eat at Southside Cafe. Were there for happy hour and hubby enjoyed a craft beer and I had a yummy frozen Bushwacker. Ordered the crawfish balls as an appetizer. They were delicious. We shared a... More

Owner takes pride in fresh fish not "fake" fish like other places that say all you can it. That's NOT catfish. Great spinach dip YUMM

Went here twice and we weren't too impressed either time. Marine and Americana decor is neat to look at and seems like a good place to watch a game. We had chicken sandwiches and po'boys (which sadly tasted like the bread had been microwaved.) Margaritas had too much sweet and sour mix. Will skip this place next time.
