Description: Founded in 1991 Southside Cafe opened at the current location on...
Founded in 1991 Southside Cafe opened at the current location on Pontchartrain Drive. The building originally opened in 1987 as a local donut franchise by Dan and Sharon DeBlanc. Expanded in 1994 to almost double the capacity, Southside had slowly grown into favorite meeting spot. It also had become one of the most patriotic places to eat. Fueled by the rising patriotism brought about by the Iraqi war, and Dan being a former Marine Corps Helicopter pilot, the restaurant soon became a type of meeting place for hungry patriots to eat, drink and congregate. With the overwhelming support of the community over the last 20 plus years, Dan, Sharon and Chris have strived to provide that comfortable local joint, were you celebrate birthdays, graduation or just having a great meal. With a staff and customers that includes over three generations; Southside Cafe is looking forward to the next 20 years! Don't Ever Give Up!

We visited the Southside Café on a Monday night after traveling through the night from Iowa. We seated out ourselves at an empty table and our server was available within moments. We placed our drink order and were given our drinks with in minutes. We placed our meal order. Portions were large. My wife and I shared a catfish dinner,... More

Good local New Orleans cuisine at a great price. Locals love this place for good reason. Po-boys of every variety, great burgers and my personal favorite muffalotta. Local owners who rebuilt after Katrina and a fire. Dedicated to the communiity with a passion for food.

Food was incredible! Service was awesome! But, the best part was that the walls were filled with tributes to fallen Marines. I will be back to see them again!

This is a top notch restaurant. Every entry on their menu is pure quality and delicious. The restaurant has a military ambiance in it's decoration, but not it's food. The appetizers are just terrific. From delicious gumbos to Calamari, each one stands on it's own. The plate lunches are many and varied, all scrumptious. The daily lunch specials reflect the... Southside Cafe is the best kept secret in Slidell. We eat here every Friday night for good reasons. The food is excellent, the daily specials are awesome, and the staff is friendly and caring. The locals flood this place everyday with a lead following of Veterans. If you like great food, awesome people, and support our military and his or... More

Good selection of local favorites with reasonable prices. We have not gotten anything bad there. The service is usually prompt and good. Be prepared for a wait on Friday and Saturday nites. Highly recommend. Dinning areas are noisy so do not expect a quiet dinner,
