Description: Founded in 1991 Southside Cafe opened at the current location on...
Founded in 1991 Southside Cafe opened at the current location on Pontchartrain Drive. The building originally opened in 1987 as a local donut franchise by Dan and Sharon DeBlanc. Expanded in 1994 to almost double the capacity, Southside had slowly grown into favorite meeting spot. It also had become one of the most patriotic places to eat. Fueled by the rising patriotism brought about by the Iraqi war, and Dan being a former Marine Corps Helicopter pilot, the restaurant soon became a type of meeting place for hungry patriots to eat, drink and congregate. With the overwhelming support of the community over the last 20 plus years, Dan, Sharon and Chris have strived to provide that comfortable local joint, were you celebrate birthdays, graduation or just having a great meal. With a staff and customers that includes over three generations; Southside Cafe is looking forward to the next 20 years! Don't Ever Give Up!

Had 2 dinners here during our stay in Slidell - both were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful - had ribeye steak dinner one night and the seafood platter another night - both were very good. The place is very busy with lots of locals.

Great regional food and friendly, knowledgable service. You could tell that this was a favorite for locals, and even on a Sunday night, the restaurant was full.

We go about once a week. Know what to order and what not. Daily specials are good. Good burgers and fried seafood.

Again, NOT a chain. ... Which I love. Personal style and decorated to pay tribute to our military. It would certainly appeal to a man's taste. Lot's of fishing memoribilia. And the food is always freshly cooked. Yummy , yummy!

After spending the day touring New Orleans, we came back to Slidell looking for good local cooking and were referred to the Southside Cafe. We enjoyed an excellent french onion soup and a couple of over stuffed sandwiches including a wonderfully prepared rueben. Service was super, very friendly staff. Definitely a great value for good food.

this restaurant has so much to look at while you're eating that the time flys by!! all military items, artifacts donated by people with some kind of military connection are on the walls, hanging from ceiling, etc. They have a good size menu and very friendly staff. Alot of food for the money. On Sunday they have an all day... More

After a long day of traveling we stopped in for a late dinner. I am gluten free and ordered the muffalata salad. It was a dream come true. The olives, meats and salad greens went together so well. My mouth is watering just remembering it. The place was pretty busy and all the food that went past us looked amazing.
