Best Meal on Our Louisiana Road Trip

We ordered the crab cake boulettes, shrimp platter, and stuffed crab. Also had gumbo, salads, bread pudding and cheesecake. Everything was rich and delicious! Wear your stretchy pants because the portions are huge! Our server was outstanding. All the locals eat here. Perfect atmosphere!

Place is rather small, but food is great. (A new building is being constructed) The building is very old and was relocated from another location.

Found this place on Trip Advisor. Has been years since I have been to St. Martinville so I decided to ride out that way. Lot of beautiful homes on 31. After turning on Bridge St. I initially missed the restaurant. After making a block and coming back I found it. Sign is in bad shape. But I am quite sure... More

Chip Durand's little gem has the best steaks & crab cakes in the area. The present restaurant is tiny, so make reservations & be prepared to wait. However, Chip is in process of renovating the Old Talley Ice House, on the banks of the Bayou Teche, so it is sure to be more spacious & allow for private dining or... More

You know the food is good when the restaurant is covered up with locals every day. Be sure to make a reservation and don't expect anything fancy or pretentious. Just honest, well-prepared South Louisiana cuisine served by a family that truly cares about quality and service.

Been going here for several years and always a great experience. Crab cakes are tops and steaks are too. Very popular so make a reservation!

The steaks are amazing and the crabcakes are LITERALLY the best thing on Earth. Shout out to Grayling Thibodeaux; head chef and brains behind the world famous St. JOHN'S BREAD PUDDING

We went several weeks prior to our most recent visit and I wrote a scathing review. We returned to give it another try and it was a much better experience. Instead of going at 7:00, we went at 6:00 and this time they honored our reservation on time exactly. I ordered the crab cakes which I read was the best... More

Love this little gem, although I do understand that they are moving around the corner to expand in size next month. The crab cakes are the bomb, no bread filler. Classic old school presentation, but why mess with greatness.

Everything I've ever had there was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorites are the Tilapia Ponchatrain, Fried Alligator, and of course the Crab Cakes (Best anywhere). Restaurant is very clean with a friendly atmosphere. A must when visiting St. Martinville.
