Stopped for lunch. No wait which was nice. There is no lunch menu. Husband had shrimp poboy. It's served with tartar sauce, chopped cabbage, and tomato on the right kind of french bread! Shrimp were good. French fries were included and are definitely different! I had soup and sandwich. The sandwich was chicken salad. It's OK but definitely nothing special.... More

I was really looking forward to this place on our trip and it was the first place we stopped. Lots of hype and even noted in National Geographic Traveler. I love oysters and they managed to destroy them. They were over battered and incinerated--I can't believe they plated it and let it go out of the kitchen. Terrible. My husbands... More

Cute place. The dessert & coffee were the only good thing we had. The food was bland, even though the menu stated it was spicy. The frog legs tasted swampy. Everything is over breaded & tasteless. My friend had the Catfish Etouffe, it was soggy & bland. My daughter had the Crab plate, so much filling it did not even... More

The restaurant is next door to Mama's Blues Room and the live band can be heard through the connecting entrance. The band was pretty good but this is not the place to go if you are looking for a quiet place. Also lots of big screens on with LSU football on them. The service was friendly and the food was... Stopped in for lunch with a coworker. They had a great variety on the menu. We choose 3 appetizers to share instead of entrees so we could try various things. We had fried alligator with was very good, fried catfish strips which were delicious and very mild in fishy taste. The third item was blackened alligator and it was by... More

After waiting for the kitchen to service the "Mama's House of Blues" customers first, we got our food 30-45 mins after bing seated in the crowded little eating area. The food was definitely NOT worth the long wait. The hushpuppies tasted like they had pesticide in them (totally inedible), the fried shrimp was well hidden in the thick fried chicken... More

My expectations were high because I've heard great things about Mama's. Ordered fried shrimp and it was fine, but not the deliciousness I expected. Neat atmosphere and great place to visit with friends. But not great.
