The restaurant is next door to Mama's Blues Room and the live band can be heard through the connecting entrance. The band was pretty good but this is not the place to go if you are looking for a quiet place. Also lots of big screens on with LSU football on them. The service was friendly and the food was... Really good seafood sampler which we usually split, great drinks; we live locally and stop in often when we're downtown

Stopped in for lunch with a coworker. They had a great variety on the menu. We choose 3 appetizers to share instead of entrees so we could try various things. We had fried alligator with was very good, fried catfish strips which were delicious and very mild in fishy taste. The third item was blackened alligator and it was by... More

After waiting for the kitchen to service the "Mama's House of Blues" customers first, we got our food 30-45 mins after bing seated in the crowded little eating area. The food was definitely NOT worth the long wait. The hushpuppies tasted like they had pesticide in them (totally inedible), the fried shrimp was well hidden in the thick fried chicken... More

Fried catfish w/ homemade hushpuppies, boiled shrimp salad w/ remoulade dressing and the chocolate peanut butter sin for dessert. Delicious!

My expectations were high because I've heard great things about Mama's. Ordered fried shrimp and it was fine, but not the deliciousness I expected. Neat atmosphere and great place to visit with friends. But not great.

Went for a quick lunch during our walk through the adorable town. The service was very pleasant, however a bit slow. I am from New York though and just in town for a week, so in may have a bit of a skewed opinion of service speed. We had a chicken wrap, spinach and artichoke dip, and crab cake. The... More

The staff and food were great. I went at dinner on a Saturday. I had fried pickle spears and the Cane River Catfish. The portions were large and I had enough to carry back for a second meal. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The spices and sauce complemented the fish very well.

I had the fried catfish. It was the worst tasting fish I have ever tried to eat. The hush puppies and french fries were dry as if they were saved from the day before and microwaved. this is supposed to be one of the best places in town to eat but it is not.
