Description: Rita Mae's Kitchen in Morgan City, LA is a quaint but amazing dining experience worth trying. Their famous chicken stew is unparalleled anywhere in anywhere in the South. Its inexpensive, incredibly food with a very loyal clientele. This may be one of Morgan City's best kept secrets. I'm back home in Washington State right now wishing I was there getting ready to tear into a plate of their food.

We were in town, heading for a houseboat and wanted fried chicken for our next day picnic and dinner as well. So we headed to Rita Mae's on our host's recommendation. We are SO glad we did. This is not Commander's Palace...it is a little dive in a working town. But wow, do they know how to cook! It was... More

Stopped by for lunch while riding our Harley through the area. Food was great, price was reasonable and service was very good (especially for being as busy as they were). I usually need to season my gumbo to suit my taste, but not at Rita Mae's. We will be stopping on our next visit to Morgan City!

The best seafood gumbo I ever put my lips on. We eat there every time we are in town. Small restaurant but friendly service. I would highly recommend eating here if you have the chance!

I love home cooked food and it feel like you eating at your own kitchen table with family. If you are ever in the area and looking for a home cooked meal; please stop by and enjoy.

If you are in the mood for down home soul food, this is the place in town. The food is wonderfully southern.

One of the best seafood I ever had. Looking from outside appears to not be good, but we were very well attended. The restaurant was empty and we had exclusivity. The place looks like a familiar restaurant, but old, However the taste of the food was amazing. I recommend!

I was born and raised in Hawaii so I'm used to these kind of "mom & pop" restaurants and you can't judge a book by its cover. This establishment wasn't something that I wasn't already used to. I'm always open to trying food specific to the area I visit and visiting Louisiana, it's Cajun, Creole, seafood, and a plethora of... More

We had to place our order multiple times. Our questions were not answered, our bill was outrageous. It cost my family more to eat there than to eat steaks at Applebees. The atmosphere was poor. They seated 6 of us crowded around a table for 2! We had catfish and shrimp-mine tastes better! The brown gravy was odd colored and... More

We stopped here on our way to the rig museum and it was one of the better places we ate during our vacation. It's small, personal and cooked fresh. The crab meat is favorite here among the locals so I had a Po Boy with crab and it was delicious. The immense hamburger of my husband was the best he... More

We just left Rita Mae's. I must say, my plate was VERY scrumptious! My husband had the roast beef po'boy, I had the hamburger steak, and our friend had the chicken fried steak. My husband loved his, I loved mine, our friend said the CFS tasted like it was one of the frozen, pre-made types. The brown gravy is to... More
