Since our visit to Ray's PeGe, I've promised myself the treat of tackling this review. Ray's is GOOD. I mean the "smothered in lots of gravy" greasy-spoon-diner kind of good. I had the hot roast beef (open faced) sandwich with french fries, which is apparently one of their specialties. (Their... read more

Authentic Louisiana Po Boys on fresh baked French bread. Roast beef or ham, with brown gravy and "real" French fries. This is the best and takes you back to your Louisiana child hood. The place is small and an older building but the taste is the same great food every time. Their burgers are good and their breakfast is good.

I've tried this place several times and it's not very consistent. At times it's very good and I've also gotten just average meals. I don't know if it's different cooks or what. When they're on their game it's pretty tasty. It's just not a place that I'm going to go out of my way to eat. The service was pretty... More

We stopped here on our way to Alabama. I had a friend that used to live in Monroe and he told me they had good poboys and he was right! I got the shrimp poboy and it was spot on what you want from a poboy. The bread was incredible. I also got the curly fries, I think they were... More

I've been to Ray's Pe Ge many times over the years. While it lacks the charm and excitement of earlier years, it still packs a powerful punch. Recently, my wife and I dropped by on a leisurely Sunday afternoon. While she opted for a beef Po Boy and curly cue potatoes, I tried the luncheon plate (entre and two sides).... More

This is a Good Old Fashioned PoBoy, the kind that's rare, even in New Orleans, these days. I rate PoBoys by napkins, 1 to 10, and this PoBoys is definately a 9 1/2 napkin PoBoys !! My favorite is the Roast Beef PoBoy. My son's favorite is the Ribeye PoBoy. We eat here every time we pass through Monroe. We... More

Ray's Pege is famous for their poboys but since I didn't want bread I opted for the fried catfish plate. This was some of the best fried fish I've ever had in a restaurant. The seasoning was just perfect and was absolutely delicious. The green beans were seasoned great as well and were wonderful. The only thing that wasn't good... More

The decor appears to be from the 60s but they have great food and the staff is awesome. I travel to Monroe for business and make sure I stop in several times

Even if the food is delicious, it loses its appeal when the restaurant is not neat and tables are not cleaned. I have been going to Ray's for decades and love the po-boys!! The fries are great....taste homemade but staff needs to pay attention to details and service.
