Classic new orleans food at a great value!

I love Acme Oyster House in Metairie. The food is excellent, the service reliable, and the atmosphere is always lively and fun. Great for tourists who want a good New Orleans casual restaurant experience without going to the "tourist" sections of the city. The oysters are reasonably priced and... read more

Great for tourists who want a good New Orleans casual restaurant experience without going to the "tourist" sections of the city. The oysters are reasonably priced and DELICIOUS, and the seafood entrees arent too bad either. I had... More

I wasn't expecting much, given our Australian oysters are pretty special - but wow, New Orleans oysters are in a whole other league - they're delicious and huge! I had the fried oyster po'boy which was out of this world! We also tried the char grilled oysters, as well as strait up raw - all amazing. It's not the flashest... More

Got the raw. Big and delicious. I usually like fresh horseradish but the mix theirs with cocktail sauce. It works. Try it. Beer selection like many Nola places was ordinary. Lacks ambience of French quarter sister but lacks the line, too.

I've lived in South Louisiana all of my life, and have eaten a lot of fried catfish, but this restaurant has the best. The fish is fried crispy and perfectly seasoned with no greasy aftertaste or grease left on your plate. It's fun to watch the guys shuck oysters while waiting for your food. The grilled oysters are amazing. If... More

Stopped for dinner on our way into New Orleans. Easy to find, plenty of parking. We arrived at about 7:30 on a Friday during lent, so there was of course a wait. Sat on a bench outside (not much room to wait inside) until our table was ready. Ordered a dozen raw for my mother, and the grilled oysters for... More

Seated at the bar with Curtis as our bartender - he's delighful and makes an excellent bloody mary. The chargrilled oysters are delicious, but a bit on the salty side. I really wish they'd offer steamed oysters w/just the butter, horseradish & hot sauce, but the grilled option isn't bad at all! You must eat here while in NOLA -... More

This was recommended by our hotel. It was a great restaurant overall and very popular. We went late and the wait was still 30 mins at 10:00pm. The food was good and the oysters, of coarse were the best. We didn't have the best service as everyone else seemed to get their orders shortly after being seated while ours took... More

Acme was a good stop however the wait is extremely long. The charbroiled oysters were tasty however the soft shell crab was a disappointment. The service was okay however I will come back for third visit to try additional items on the menu.

I ate here this week while traveling on business. It was crowded, so I sat at the bar like usual. The raw oysters would have been good if: they weren't full of shell, some weren't stacked on top of others causing filth to get on the meat and a couple were dumped off the shell onto the tray. The bartenders... More
