We were there with friends while visiting NOLA. The Galley is small and very casual. The staff seems to know many of the patrons, which in itself speaks volumes. Everything was excellent; frog legs, crawfish (small, as they were really out of season), shrimp, oysters, hush puppies. All delicious and abundant. Paper napkins and formica tabletops don't take anything away... More

No matter what you order here, it is always tasty. There is a large menu selection of seafood prepared fried, grilled or broiled with daily specials. They are very willing to accommodate your special needs or to split an order. Locals know about this neighborhood place more than tourists since it is in the suburbs but if you have a... More

You just can't beat the Galley when it comes to real south Louisiana seafood! It is a family operated restaurant and they prepare the food just like they would at home. Their fried catfish and softshell crab po-boys are world famous (have been vendors at the New Orleans Jazz Fest for over 30 years) but their boiled crawfish, crabs and... More

We recently made our first visit to NOLA, our friends who are locals took us to Galley for our first meal while in town. I had my first Po Boy and Oh Boy was it ever delicious, a grilled shrimp dressed with all the fixins, we also had a few appetizers like onion rings, fried egg plant and crawfish hushpuppies,... Getting out of the city a few miles gives you a chance to eat where the locals outnumber the tourists. We stopped here on our way back from Lafayette. We started with some grilled oysters - buttery, cheesy, yummy. My wife had seafood tacos - one stuffed with grilled shrimp, the other with grilled catfish. Very fresh and well prepared.... More

I have never had a better soft shell crab plate. The galley has all kinds of wonderful seafood but my favorite are the soft shell crabs.

The Galley is always very busy, get there early. Boiled seafood is seasoned well and always quality grade. Fried seafood good too. This is not a restaurant for refined service or upscale ambiance. The Galley is an old school New Orleans boil and fry jernt.

This place is very good. It is a little cramped and crowded but does serve excellent seafood. A little pricey but worth it.

I usually visit this restaurant ever time I am in New Orleans. Not anymore. I ordered corn grits and gumbo. The lukewarm corn grits arrived, but not the gumbo. I ate the grits slowly, hoping to get the gumbo before they were done. My mom got both her appetizer and dinner, and was almost done. In that whole time, the... More
