While our daughter and her family were in town earlier this week from Kansas, we got some poboys from Short Stop Poboys on Transcontinental (a block from Airline Hwy.). I got my usual Oyster Poboy and Maria, my wife, got her Shrimp Poboy (which both were great), but our Son-in-Law and Daughter split a Roast Beef Poboy. How surprised we... More

I've been wanting to try a poboy from Russels for about 4 years. I finally got a chance today. I ordered a king (14 inches) shrimp with all the fixins. Fries with a side of roast beef debris. You gotta get that and put on the fries. Hell, I even put the debris on my shrimp! It was tasty to... More

Russell's Short Stop Poboys at 119 Transcontinental, Metairie, LA is and has been a very popular source of good poboys. Having not been there for a year or two, we stopped in yesterday for a good old roast beef and a shrimp poboy. We were surprised that there wasn't the usual long line waiting to order, at around 1:00 p.m.... More

I was in the area and wanted a shrimp po-boy, this place was highly recommended. I ordered jambalaya and gumbo with my sandwich. I wasn't blown away, the bread was a little tough for a po-boy, but overall the food was good and my craving for a po-boy was quenched.

I used to live in New Orleans and this was one of my favorite places to go for lunch so just had to stop in and bring my sister for her first PoBoy. Love their roast beef, crunchy French bread, well seasoned tender and just enough gravy to soften the bread, yumm!

We took our three young grandsons for lunch one busy day. Sandwiches were made quickly and we all enjoyed (turkey and roast beef). They are delicious and very filling (the small ones are plenty). Staff was friendly and the experience was great - we will definitely return!

I make this a planned stop when I am in the area. I keep saying I am going to try some of their other poboys but I can't seem to make myself pass on the delightful roast beef! My wife seems to be hung on the shrimp, and if you happen to be there on Friday I suggest you opt... More

The poboys are awesome! Born and raised in New Orleans, my favorite is the Roast Beef. A few things that don't take away from the experience: 1) its a little confusing, you have to order your sandwich in one line, wait for them to make it, then get your drink and pay in a second line. 2)Most New Orleanians prefer... This was one the first po-boy stands I visited when I lived in NOLA 30 years ago. It still serves one the best au jus roast beefs in town. I am a meat and bread only po-boy person. This place's roast beef clicks all the buttons for me. They also make good oyster and shrimp combos.
