We went to Deanie's for lunch before heading to the airport. From the outside the restaurant looks like an extension of the market but that changes once you get inside where it has a very old school, comfortable feel. I had the seafood and okra gumbo and the barbeque shrimp pasta. Both were very good. The okra in the gumbo... More

Thank you for your review. Deanie’s is known for our fresh Louisaina seafood and casual family atmosphere, and we are so glad that your experience was a positive one. Our spicy boiled potatoes are Deanie’s own “lagniappe” seasoned in our signature Creole seasonings to start off your meal. We’re so glad we were able to send you off to the... More

I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed. This place was good, the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as it sounded, by the reviews I read; maybe it was what I ordered. I had the stuffed shrimp and it was good, but I thought it would be great. It was interesting that they serve red skinned potatoes... More

Tara, We are sorry to hear that your experience at Deanie’s in Bucktown did not meet your expectations. Our spicy boiled potatoes are a cajun tradition at Deanie’s Seafood (generally found in Louisiana crawfish boils). We are glad to hear that your card was not misplaced and will address our staff about the incident with the young man lying down... More

Fried oyster and shrimp dinner with fries was very tasty. Batter could have used a little more salt but good flavor. They serve small boiled potatoes to start and not all orders come with fries. Desserts looked good but too full to try. Very informal atmosphere and funky appearance outside but service was excellent. Typical southern fish house. Was not... More

when they first brought the potatoes and butter to the table I was unsure. Then I tried them and devoured them. The okra and seafood gumbo is delicious. Also had the catfish and shrimp combo which was good too. I will definitely go back.

I had a catfish po boy which was amazing and delicious! My only complaint is that my side salad could have been fresher, the lettuce was a little brown in places.

This restaurant is one we go to often. The other night we went with another couple and it was a huge disappointment. I don't think I will be going back there soon. We each ordered the full seafood platter, which was like $57. The food was just not what is use to be. For $57, it is a better deal... More

This is THE Deanie's. Not that the one on Iberville isn't good but isn't THE Deanie's. This is the place I come with my West Bank family after I devour a burger at a place on Esplanade. It is our sit down family meal. It is end all be all place to order craw fish. The new potatoes and butter... More

I have dined in several seafood restaurants but Deanie's is one of the best. There are several items on the menu consisting of boiled, baked and fried seafood. I had the half seafood platter which consist of fried shrimp, oysters, catfish, soft shelled crab, stuffed crab, hushpuppies and fries. The platter can easily feed two people and at 25.00, it's... Food was average. My family being from Louisiana we know good cuisine. The part I wanted to be certain to report was the following. We travel with a service dog. By law he is allowed anywhere I go. The few times I have ever had to take him into a eating facility I walk in and talk to them and... More

Dear Terri, As the owner of a service animal, I'm sure you're aware that the law governing Service Animals specifically states that service animals are properly identified (vest/tags) and leashed or harnessed. Our staff is familiar with service dogs, and they and their owners are most welcomed customers when proper identification is provided and the animal is well-behaved. If you... More

Deanie's is a local legend. My personal favorite is the BBQ shrimp. The small appetizer plate is enough for me. With the dipping bread, it can be an entree if you eat raw oysters beforehand as appetizer.
