I read some of the reviews, and yes it was a total dive when you drive up. I sat up to the bar next to a local who said he eats there twice a week. He recommended the Chicken Jefferson and also the Yummy Yummy Gumbo??? something like that. So I ordered a combo of both. The Chicken Jefferson was... More

I came here for the first time last week. Some good friends raved about it, so we all went. I had a bowl of gumbo and an oyster po'boy. First, the sandwich. It was good. There were not enough oysters on it, but the ones that were there were huge and delicious. I found the dressing a little inadequate, but... More

We got this meal as take out. The restaurant is small crowded and hot. We tried 3 kinds of gumbo, rice and beans and the fried chicken, along with the bread pudding and chocolate cake. 4 people. We had gumbo for breakfast the next day...there was a lot of food. Even the chef laughed at me as I carried away... More

This is supposed to be the place for Gumbo, it could be if you can find any meat in the gumbo, mine was not very good and actually was a waste of money. This place is a hole in the wall and what I had to eat had little to no flavor

Very small neighborhood restaurant. Gumbo delicious and great shrimp po boy! It is definitely a "go back to" place. The restaurant itself is in sort of a hard place to get to so if you go there you have to want to go there!

I don’t consider myself a travel expert. But I have picked up quite a few tricks along the way. For example, if you want the best local food for a good price, look for the hole in the wall places. You know you have found a good one if: 1) it’s almost impossible to get a seat, 2) there is... More

If you want a bowl of great gumbo, then Chef Ron's Gumbo Shop is the place to go. We also had a side of red beans and jambalaya and they were both great too. Better than fighting traffic to the French Quarter. Great place to stop in after leaving the airport and hungry or just having a great meal. The... More

I worked near this place for years and never went......today went after reading review on Tripadvisor. Great seafood gumbo. Was pleasantly surprised.......atmosphere is really just a local sandwich shop. Go for the food. Good value.

The gumbo was good. The servings were fairly small for the price and flavored ok. Mac and cheese was bland. The to go dishes were not close to full. Staff eating at the counter on the job is always a little tacky.
