Family run French Bistro. Great tasting foods and friendly chef. Worth the drive

Chateau Du Lac is about 15mins outside New Orleans. I went there with a group of culinary students to learn more about New Orleans food businesses and off course have dinner there. We went to the $19.99 three course dinner on Mondays which is great value. I got the Coc au Vin - chicken braised... read more

Food that we had was all good, the overall experience was just ok. We had French onion & butternut squash soups, duck entrée, onion tart, goat cheese spinach salad, creme brule & chocolate molten cake. Problems included a tart that was barely warm, duck that seemed to be missing something season-wise & a less than attentive female waitress. Didn't live... More

My wife and I stopped in late Friday with no reservation. The restaurant was packed. We were offered a seat at the bar. My wife ordered the Tandoori Steak; and I had the french onion soup and a salad. Everything was great. The steak was cooked to perfection and was a large portion. My soup was perhaps the best french... More

As visitors to New Orleans, it is sometimes a gamble to try a new restaurant. Chateau Du Lac Bistro sounded like a delicious classical French restaurant, so we gambled. The 10 minute drive to Metarie was TOTALLY worth it! As we dined, not only did we notice the staff recognized most of the people - the customers recognized each other!... More

From the outside, you really wouldn't know this was a fine restaurant, very nondescript building. Decor inside was warm and welcoming. I started with the French Onion soup. It was a hard choice because the soup of the day was broccoli, which my friend ordered. She loved her's - mine was tasteless. I wasn't impressed. Then came the special salad... More

This is a hidden gem in Old Metairie. With it's bright colors it's decorated like a little bistro in France. The food and service is excellent. Atmosphere is great. The apple tart was outstanding, grilled salmon and the avocada salad ...delicious

Reserved a table online at about dinner time. At one point we were the only ones in there. This is more a place for locals than the occasional wandering tourist though everyone was very friendly. Outstanding staff, attentive but not overwhelming. Food is very good though nothing here will knock your socks off. Very solid wine list. Entree menu is... More

this small neighborhood restaurant offers very good french bistro fare at a reasonable price. the staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. pace of the meal is pleasant and unrushed. we were able to have a quiet conversation and not be drowned out by excessive restaurant noise.
