First the positive, the view is Beautiful! The sunset is absolutely gorgeous! Now the rest of the story, the service is slow and one feels like a bother, if anything is needed. The restaurant is not the cleanest and the food is mediocre at best. The seafood does not taste fresh, as one poster stated. Gumbo, taste as if it... More

Good place for couples to eat. Dining room on second level gives you a panoramic view of lake Ponchartrain and a good view of the sunset. Seafood and salad were great. Posh dining room. Will definitely return with my lady to have a romantic dinner.

I love going to Rip's. Never had a bad meal or disappointed with anything they served. We have gone with other couples and they enjoyed the meal as much as we did. Never ordered anything but seafood so I can only speak for the seafood. It is outstanding

They only take reservations for the inside dining. That is nice (i.e. white tablecloth) but we prefer to go in late afternoon and watch the sun set over Lake Ponchartrain and enjoy the breeze on the front porch. Any dish is worthy- fresh fish in particular. fried catfish is good, but the menu is worthy of experimentation.

We ate here for my birthday last week. It was wonderful. The appetizers were delicious. My boyfriend got the fish topped with crawfish, artichokes and a lemon cream sauce and it was great. I got the filet steak, not so great, overcooked. Stick to the seafood folks, guess that's why its in the name :) I will surely return for... More

Took my sons (13 and 8) to dinner tonight and had a fabulous experience. Craig, our waiter, greeted us warmly and was very attentive throughout the meal. I ordered a cup of the crab and brie soup and it was absolutely superb! My sons, the pickiest eaters in town, loved it! It was creamy, flavorful, and fresh. I split the... More

Grew up in the Covington/ Mandeville area, moved away 25 years ago. It is always fun to go back and visit a place that you went to as a child. The original building is not raised up off the ground and is beautiful. The service and food was wonderful. Better than I remember!!

We love eating out on the front porch. However in the heat of the summer with the sun beating down its less than desirable. Inside is a normal feeling place. Good food. nice people. Good wine.
