Being from Louisiana myself I can easily say that their fried oysters and shrimp were well cooked and tasty. My problem is that for poboys, the prices were very high. The bread was not po boy, it was more like a hogie roll. And for them to say they don't do half and half po boys (half oyster and half... More

Hotel recommended place. The atmosphere was great but food was just ok; seafood platter for two ($24.95) was too fried with too much batter. The shrimp fettucine seemed too processed and most of the menu was overly priced. On upside, it's right off the I-10 (Exit 30A), super friendly staff and fast service.

Every time we go near or through Lake Charles we stop here just for pistolettes. Pistolettes are small fried rolls filled with your choice of shrimp gumbo or crawfish étouffée! They are small buythey are delicious! I usually order one of each and a tea and my bill is around 7.00... So they are also a great value! All of... More

I have never visited the Lake Charles area and not stopped at Steamboat Bill's at least once during my stay. I believe its been around for many years. I've had basically everything on the menu - gumbo, etouffee, boiled and fried shrimp, crawdads, salads, pistolettes, etc. It's all good. If I could ask for anything, it would be for more... More

My wife and I frequently travel from Houston to wither Lake Charles or New Orleans. We time it so we will arrive at Steamboat Bill's around the noon hour. Growing up on the Texas Gulf Coast seafood is in my blood. This is the best place to have a variety of seafood and a seasonal Abita or two (if you... More

This is original Cajun food done right. Not for you if you can't take the heat. There food is spiced the way we cajun's like it, nice and spicy. The boiled seafood in season is wonderful. There fried seafood is out of this world. If you want a true taste of Louisiana, make sure this restaurant is on your list... More

If you want breaded fried catfish this is the place. The locals ate here and the parking lot is always busy. It is a very casual place but the food is plentiful and tasty. There are lots of seafood items and combo baskets. Everything is served in a basket. If you can't get filled up here, you just can't get... More

A standard seafood restaurant with stiffed alligators and fish on display. The gumbo is good but the menu seemed limited. Be aware that everything in cooked in peanut oil which makes it off limits to those allergic to peanuts). The fried platters seemed pricey, but not having tried them, we can't say they are not worth the price. The restaurant... More

A friend of mine knew of this place, so we stopped by during a road trip. I had a fried shrimp baked potato. It was not healthy, but boy was it delicious! My friend had the shrimp gumbo and enjoyed it. Another friend enjoyed the shrimp poorboy. Although I didn't have any, my friends all raved about the bread. They... More
