Gumbo YaYa!

We loved the seafood gumbo and grilled Delcambre shrimp salad. The house dressing was Balsamic Cane Vinaigrette and very good. Service was excellent. Would love to try it again next time we are in the area.

We had dinner at the Blue Dog while visiting Lafayette, LA. The service was excellent. We had the crab cakes, shrimp and corn chowder, and shrimp with linguine and sauteed spinach. Everything was tasty, hot, and well presented. We happen to hit Happy Hour, so our drinks were half off too. The atmosphere was comfortable, clean, and casual. I didn't... More

This was my second time to the Blue Dog. It was as good if not better than the first. Seems there was more selections to choose from, I did mention this was a Sunday and they only have a buffett, the food was well prepared and presented. Everything has a little Cajun to it. This time they offered a glass... More

We visited Blue Dog Cafe just because we were driving by and it looked fun. The food was great; the server was pleasant. We received suggestions when we asked, and our server was knowledgeable.

Although most cajn food is very unhealthy the crab sald in a tortilla bowl was excellent. There were two of us, women. Even though the restaruant was almost empty the hostess tried to seat us in a corner of the bar filled with happy hour partiers. We turned her around quickly so we could talk and relax after a long... More

The bad: After checking in with the hostess, we had a drink at the bar. We recognized that they were busy however one of my pet peeves is when our presence isn't even acknowledged by the staff. A simple "I'll be right with you" is all that's needed to convey that the bartender knows we are there. When directed to... More

After nearly 40 years of enjoying great Louisiana seafood, we place the Blue Dog Cafe atop our list of favorite restaurants. The shrimp platter is one of those rare treats of shrimp prepared perfectly, several different ways: gumbo, fried, grilled, stuffed and etoufee. The gumbo roux was dark, rich and flavorful. The grilled and fried both presented their own zesty,... More

We dropped in for an after dancing dinner at the bar. The Manhattan I ordered was the best and biggest I've ever had. Hubby ordered a hamburger steak that we are still talking about. (we're a little meat starved amongst all this seafood). It was just great beef cooked medium to rare. We're going back here before we leave Lafayette.... More

A very good popular restaurant in Lafayette Louisiana. The prices are reasonable but I believe their sister restaurant right down the street Jolie's is much better and a much nicer atmosphere.
