Upscale in Lafayette

This was a welcome upscale, classy reastaurant in a city which has a lot of cajun, deep fried meals. Don't get me wrong, the latter can be quite deilcious and fun and a tourist needs to try them. CGs has a more traditional menu, some with a more subtle cajun flair. Great service and ambience.

We had lunch at Charley G´s and really enjoyed our meal. The restaurant itself is very pretty. I started out with a Monique Angora Martini, delicious! I had the chilled shrimp and crab ravigote which was very good and tried the Berkshire pork tenderloin which was very tender and tasty! I also tried the white chocolate bread pudding and the... Stopped in for lunch. The first alert was it was kinda hot in the place. Then the tea came with barely enough ice to cool the tea. Fast forward to the food, it was ok but not fresh, not seasoned, really just mediocre. Not planning on returning. I have eaten better seafood in south Louisiana.

This locally owned restaurant is a favorite of many. Piano bar is great too. But the food and service is what you'll really like. Always fresh fish and other southern dishes.

Tried Charlie G's for lunch after looking through reviews of restaurants in the Lafayette area. It was clear that this is a quality restaurant. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated right a way. The order for drinks and lunch entrees were taken in rapid succession. The service here was great! The restaurant is very clean, the decor above... More

I discovered Charley G's the last time I was driving along I -10. I stopped in Lafayette again...this time to return to Charley's. There are many reasons to visit Lafayette- gastronomically speaking, Charley's is as compelling as the history and Cajun charm of the area. Careful attention is paid to every minute detail of the dining experience from the homebaked... More

The restaurant was beautiful but noisy. We both ordered steak. My husband ordered a ribeye which was very small and he was disappointed with the flavor. My filet was fine but I would not order it again. The potatoes and grilled asparagus were delicious. They were out of my wine selection which was disappointing. We eat out a lot and... More

Charley G's has the trifecta of very good and creative food combined with wonderful service and ambiance that is needed to complete the fine dining experience. We dined there once before and it was the grandest dining experience we had in all of Louisiana something that I would consider difficult to accomplish. We both had the Irish trout which was... 3.5 stars is a fair rating. Meat is cooked and spiced well, sea food is fresh and walnut salad is very good. This restaurant is on the pricey side but is not too bad compared to competition. Consider trying their stake and their trout fish. I expected a better martini for $ 10. Service is good but could be faster.
