A real gem for breakfast

We tend to keep going back to old favorites when in Lafayette but a cousin suggested trying The French Press. What a great idea! A lot of people rave about their Sunday brunch - I wish I could say I have been but I haven't. It must be good by the amount of people who talk about it. I went there for dinner one evening and the prices were pricey for my budget but the food and drinks were excellent. The service was prompt... More

We found The French Press using Yelp, which usually does not disappoint or mislead. And it was true to form, again. The French Press is located in an old printing building, using some of the abandoned cabinets for decor, as well as some of the original wall surfaces. So right away, it felt both trendy and homey, which is a... More

This is an excellent little breakfast/lunch café in otherwise tired downtown Lafayette. The food, atmosphere and service were outstanding. One of the best breakfast cafes I have ever been to. Can rival any place I've ever been to, even in a major city. Enjoy, it can't be beat.

While not doubt the publicity for midday meals is well-deserved, in my opinion the best time to go and enjoy the French Press is early morning during week days. Breakfast time generally finds the kitchen staff in early prepping for the main event, so catching the establishment early is a pure bonus for the patron. Weekends will find you waiting... More

The baby breesus is to die for. My husband had the chicken and waffles and loved it. The staff were fantastic, the ambiance was great and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Cajun breakfast.

The French Press had great food and great service, so much so we ate there twice. Their menu is a u nique take on traditional Louisiana fare. Overall attentive staff and quaint atmosphere.

Grits and Grillades and other Louisiana French Cuisine are found here. The building itself has a great story. This is primarily a breakfast restaurant.

Best burger in town, but I haven't had anything that has been short of excellent. The meatloaf sandwich and the French dip or two of the best sandwiches I've ever had. They have amazing breakfast dishes as well. Sometimes the service can be a little sketchy/ unknowledgeable and there is usually a wait if you don't get there early for... More

My family and I covered almost the entire breakfast menu. No disappointments, and a few standouts were the Breesus, Grits, French Toast and the Chicken and Waffles. Chipotle Grits are a must have item.
