Shrimp Po boy was out of this world! I loved the little dive atmosphere and the food was excellent! If you are in Lafayette and looking for somewhere to eat this is the joint! The menu is simple, they only take cash, and the bread is super fresh! Worth the stop!

All other sandwiches are judged against Olde Tyme. We ate here twice during a 4-day stay. Oyster po-boy is my favorite. I get it "dressed" - which means it's topped with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, mayo & ketchup, then I add Tabasco. Grab a bag of Zapp's chips while you wait in line to pay (in CASH!, no CCs). They've... More

Cash or cheque? Yes, you can pay by personal cheque. Go here for this reason alone. Superb vibe. Totally messy. Everyone happy to be there. Strangely placed in a suburb and elementary school, it retains an undeniable charm. Had the shrimp po' boy. Didn't rock my world, but the atmosphere did. Service is fast, friendly. Try not to sit at... More

Traveling through the area and used Trip Advisor to search for restaurants. Historically we have had great meals at mom & pop places. History repeated itself, this place was fantastic! Place order at Deli, pay and find a table (hard to do at peak times). The "special" poor boy was the best I've ever had! The locals rave about the... More

We tried the Shrimp, Oyster and Roast Beef Poor Boys and they were good and we enjoyed them, but felt the bread didn't have enough bite appeal to be amongst the best. We cannot attest if it is the best in Lafayette, as we only tried Old Tyme. The Lent Tradition at Old Tyme adds to the local affection. Service... More

On two separate stops, we have had both the Olde Tyme Special and the fried shrimp poor boys. While many reviewers rave over the shrimp version, we thought the Olde Tyme Special packed more flavor and hearty goodness. The establishment is a unique, memorable place with lots of character. We agree with the many other rave reviews and recommend Olde... More

Old time grocery by far has the best poboy on the planet. I got a meatball poboy. Will it was a large one next time a small one will do. Loved the little store and history that the place had. Awesome food, great service just a great home cooked meal.

Stop here every time we head to New Orleans from TX. Every Po Boy type we have tried is amazing...but you must try the Hot Roast Beef with gravy!!! Nothing fancy but good old time style food and made with love. Worth the 10 min drive off i-10

They do not accept credit cards so be prepared to pay cash or check. This is a good ole fashion poboy place. Must try.
