Still a Go-To Spot

It's been about 8 years since I've been down this way, and just had to go back to Prejean's. I wasn't disappointed. The crawfish half and half was outstanding. The beer was cold. The staff was attentive and courteous. The show stealer was the pecan sweet potato pie. I've got to say, it was one... read more

This is the best Cajun food around. We were driving from New Orleans back to Houston when my son decided to surprise me by stopping at Prejeans. My son is a Marine and he told me that Prejeans was kind enough to feed everyone in his unit after Katrina to show their support and that Prejeans had great food. The... More

Seeing crawfish enchiladas on the menu and being from the heart of excellent TexMex country, it was a bit of a stretch to order them, but my baby doll and I will try just about anything once! We did!! Can I say O.M.G.!!!! Those little hummers were so good I could not believe it! It was one of those tastes... More

We stopped here for a late lunch and ordered the duck gumbo and grilled oysters/shrimp to share. The gumbo was wonderful with the richest roux I've had in some time. The grilled oyster/shrimp had a good flavor, but the portion was small. I'd recommend this place for the gumbo. Atmosphere was wonderful, too.

No matter where I am going, if I am going to be traveling I 10 east I make it a point to stop at Prejean's for lunch or dinner. Anything on the menu can be trusted to be fresh and authentic! Prices reflect value. The atmosphere is true to the culture, complete with moss on trees and a large gator... More

it's a tourist trap, with the words cajun food or creole food all over the menu. The food is truely OK, but not the true cajun food tourist think they are eating. The gumbo was good at one time.

First, we usually stop in the neighborhood when traveling to San Antonio from Georgia. My wife loves shrimp, me not so much, so she ordered the fried shrimp. She said the shrimp was as tasty and as tender as any she has ever had and she has had shrimp all over. I love crab cakes, and I order them where... More

Great gumbo and etoufe. Staff provided excellent service. Fast and friendly. We also had the crawfish half and half as recommended by our wait staff. Delicious.

Prices are very high for the amount of food you get. Everything was highly salted. Will not be going back very often. Waitress was sweet at least.

The decor is over-the-top Cajunny Cajun Cajun Cajun, but I forgive them because the food was so excellent. The menu is extensive, but somehow I decided on the stuffed tilapia - stuffed with crab meat and topped with a silky, flavorful sauce. The rice was OK, the maque choux was much sweeter than any maque choux I've had anywhere else.... More
