We have eaten at La Provence many times since we were introduced to it in the mid 1970s. We've written lots of comment cards, and probably taken 50 friends there through the years...never dissapointed. But this is the first time to rate via TA. Well, the truth is it's always been our favorite Gulf Coast restaurant...for atmosphere, service, menu, price... More

John Besh has outdone himself in this restaurant. I have eaten here twice now and impressed both times. The food is always prepared with flair and served with grace. Chef Erick Loos is a master at his craft. The cocktails, the wines, the appetizers, the main course and the deserts are in a class of their own. Don't forget to... More

The complimentary pate is excellent and a great starter. The infused watermelon salad was also very well prepared and tasty. The desserts we had were excellent. The issue was I should have skipped the weak entrees. My wife and I had lamb and duck and both were very average. The lamb had a bitter sauce under it and the two... More

You definitely have to want to dine here as the drive is about 45 minutes and it is in the expensive range. You start with a freebie of chicken pate and homemade melba toasts and have to keep from stuffing yourself. We chose three appetizers for the four of us and shared:the oysters, shrimp, and ravioli. All were delicious but... More

La Provence in Lacombe, Louisiana was our anniversary place of choice for many years while we lived in Slidell. Sadly, Chef Chris has passed but John Besh has kept his tradition alive while adding new and unique dishes. Service and presentation is excellent. He has also added a beautiful room in the back to have parties. We now live in... More

Pros: Well prepared food, service, ambiance. Cons: 45 minute drive from New Orleans. Tips: Plan your trip so that you are on the Pontchartrain causeway at sunset for an unforgettable drive across the lake. La Provence is a French restaurant that uses fresh Louisiana ingredients. So, although French, don't be surprised to find fried softshell crab (highly recommended) on the... More

This John Besh restaurant is out of the way but worth the trouble. We've visited dozens of times and have never had a bad experience. It's relaxed, comfortable, the waiters let you linger if you like, and the food is fabulous. Go any time, but brunch is a special treat and very reasonably priced.

If ya don't mind driving across the causeway to Lacombe, go check this John Besh restaurant out. The drum entree was beyond outstanding. Very fresh ingredients. A lot of happy diners when we were done. Good service. Hope to come back soon.

I truly enjoyed every part of my meal from the complimentary chicken pate to the strawberry pound cake. Every is fresh off the land. The staff are friendly and helpful. I can not say enough how I enjoyed my dining experience. I recommend getting the oh la la oysters and any of the fish dishes l. You will not be... More

Skip "Open Table" and call La Provence directly. Open Table kept saying there were no reservations available but there were and I'm thrilled we persisted. La Provence is located in an unlikely area about an hour from the French Quarter but it is well worth the drive. Unpretentious on the outside, the inside brims with country French warmth. We started... More
