Better than average Mexican food. I enjoyed the atmosphere, love eating at the local places when I'm out of town. Lunch service was quick.

When on Amtrak I always notice the crowd at this restaurant when we go through downtown Hammond. Tonight we were in Hammond and decided to try it. We had a table outside by the fountain – great view of downtown, the live music was at the right level and the live oak behind us was lighted for the evening. Our... More

Seriously disappointed! I travel a lot and rely on this site to help select where we fine. The resturant was just average, at best...and overpriced for sure. My margarita was mostly mix. Salsa and pico was bland. Fajitas was just ok but not sliced well at all. Etc etc. I guess because Mexico was playing in the World Cup during... More

This restaurant tucked away in a shopping mall turned out to be a great surprise. The food we had was excellent. My wife said their chilie Reano (sp) was among the best she's ever had. They had a fresh salad of tomatoes, onions, cilantro and avocado that was very good. The wait staff was efficient and very friendly and the... More

Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in the area. There will be a crowd especially at lunch time on a pretty day. The outdoor dining is quite pleasant, an excellent place to relax and sip a Margehita. The food is really good as evidenced by the crowd.

We eat at LC a few times a month and always enjoy our meals. Sitting outside on a clear day sipping margerhitas is the best! The device is always quick and friendly but their prices normally run a little higher than other local places. The crowd noise inside is extremely loud most times also. Great place to just chill and... More

One thing I did not like about La Carreta was their presentation. Everything was placed on the plate, so that all the flavors are mixed. Their vegetables were overcooked, and every flavor was masked with cheese sauce. They have gotten better, however, the steak needs to be cooked properly, the shrimp should be cleaned better... The chips and salsa are... More

I loved my food. I ordered the Carne Asada dinner and they gave me a good size portion. I was surprised my dinner didn't come with rice but I ordered it on the side. The music was good too.

I would like to thank La Carreta for making my 30th birthday one of the best birthdays yet. I wasn't realy in to my birthday this year but my girlfriends said we have to celebrate so, they dragged me to La Carreta. When we arrived they had a surprise party with about 30 people hidden in the back room. The... More

Restaurant was a great place with live music. I ordered steak nachos and it was soupy. Chips were soggy and the top was covered in lettuce. Steak had no seasoning. My husband ordered the pork tacos. He said they had a sweet taste almost sugary. He did like the bean soup that came with it. I had a mango margarita... More
