almost top notch

We were visiting Covington on a bit of a lark on Mother's Day and found almost all the antique shops and galleries closed, save one. While at the gallery, we asked about dining in the historic district and del porto was recommended. We arrived just before the kitchen was to close (the Sunday hours... read more

The new wine room area dining is much quieter than the main dining room where the noise was so load we stopped going to Del Porto. We tried the new area and were able to carry on a conversation without shouting and could enjoy the excellent food and service. Will definitely return.

The competition across the street has pushed Del Porto to new heights. The renovation is beautiful and the food is better than ever. Pork belly, tuna crude, duck pastrami are fabulous. The fish special never disappoints. (Crispy flounder on Saturday.) House made pastas are creative and delicious. (Tagliatelle with butter poached gulf shrimp.) Espresso, home made salted caramel gelato, tiramisu... More

We are regulars at this special restaurant. If you are looking for farm to table, authentic and creative Italian please come here. Service is always good, the soups always unique and surprising and the specials to die for. The husband and wife culinary duo are consistently putting out some of the finest food in the entire New Orleans are and... More

I've usually go here with just my wife but have on one or two occasions brought the kids. (They are in their 20's) The food is always excellent and the same for the service. The last time was our anniversary dinner for which I had ordered flowers to be delivered. Someone from Del Porto's called me when the flowers arrived... More

The food is excellent and the staff always attentive. Since I am vegan they will make something delicious for me if I don't see an option on the menu. But it is such a nice place to enjoy amazing taste that you cannot find anywhere else. I highly recommend for anytime dining but especially for a "special event". And they... More

I went to Del Porto several times while on business in Covington. Its a locals place and the staff gets to know their customers. They take pride in their hand crafted cocktails and the bartenders seem to know what they are doing. The menu is robust with lots of options and good quality food. A couple dishes were a little... The only downside to going to del Porto was we went on a Friday night and all the 20-somethings with paychecks in their pockets were there and oh, my, are they noisy. Staff told us middle of the week is the time to go, which we will next time. But enough of the downside. The upside was that this white... More
