French charm, Cajun cuisine

The place has the appealing charm of old places. We are French and were not fully convinced by the dishes we selected, but everything was homemade and cooked with butter. Engaging with Jacqueline, who came from France more than forty years ago, is definitely part of the one of a kind type of... read more

We were at Chez Jacqueline in February after a Swamp Tour with the famous Norbert LeBlanc. When samed were we couldcould go for a good meal, he immediately suggested that we go to Chez Jacqueline. What a good suggestion. Jacqueline welcomed us and after suggested to prepare a dish that would meet our preference without exactly saying what she was... More

In one of those Louisiana pre-Civil War, and somewhat prehistoric village/town, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. This roughly finished out wooden interior with a screen door, and furnished with old wooden tables and chairs there is this restaurant is attended to and watched over by Jacqueline and her daughter Joy. There's a wooden sign outside the screen door leading in that reads... More

We drive through this area once a year. Stopping here is a must. We had dinner one day and breakfast there two days later. Nothing fast food or canned type of foods, just real good cooking. Plenty of excellent food at a good price. All meals made fresh. Definitely, our most favorite restaurant on our travels.

After one visit, Chez Jacqueline is officially my favorite restaurant. Besides being an amazing chef and hostess, ma chere Jacqueline is just plain fun to be around! It reminded me of eating at my favorite aunt's when I was a kid, except, my aunt Amande couldn't make escargot nearly as good as Jacqueline, and that says a lot! If you... More

We did not plan to come here. Just a block up the street is a restaurant on everyone's list of "must go to's" known for the Zydeco Breakfast and music. But when we got there (a Saturday morning and won't accept reservations), it was so packed it was unthinkable to wait for up to 2 hours, just to get in! So,... More

The restaurant we were planning to go to had a crazy long line, so we walked a few doors down and went to this one. Every other Sat. Donna Angelle & the Zydeco Posse' plays music, and is it ever good! You can't help but smile and tap your feet. The coffee was excellent. My Big Breakfast-eggs, bacon, grits were... More

While the seafood gumbo and the crawfish étouffée was very good it was not worth the one hour and one half wait. The poor boy bread was ordinary not really a French loaf. The fried shrimp and crawfish breading was too salty, like it had been salted twice. The worst was the ladies restroom which needed a plumber to fix... More

Cooked-to-order food in a family-run restaurant. Our server explained that each meal is cooked after it is ordered - and that this is not the place to lunch if you are in a rush. Worth the wait!

The breakfast was the very best I have ever had. Everything was incredibly delicious and massive in portion size.. Jacqueline was a lovely hostess. There is a sign on the wall saying good home cooked food takes time. We didn't feel like we had to wait long and we were not the only customers. It was worth any amount of... More
