After one visit, Chez Jacqueline is officially my favorite restaurant. Besides being an amazing chef and hostess, ma chere Jacqueline is just plain fun to be around! It reminded me of eating at my favorite aunt's when I was a kid, except, my aunt Amande couldn't make escargot nearly as good as Jacqueline, and that says a lot! If you... More

We did not plan to come here. Just a block up the street is a restaurant on everyone's list of "must go to's" known for the Zydeco Breakfast and music. But when we got there (a Saturday morning and won't accept reservations), it was so packed it was unthinkable to wait for up to 2 hours, just to get in! So,... More

The restaurant we were planning to go to had a crazy long line, so we walked a few doors down and went to this one. Every other Sat. Donna Angelle & the Zydeco Posse' plays music, and is it ever good! You can't help but smile and tap your feet. The coffee was excellent. My Big Breakfast-eggs, bacon, grits were... More

While the seafood gumbo and the crawfish étouffée was very good it was not worth the one hour and one half wait. The poor boy bread was ordinary not really a French loaf. The fried shrimp and crawfish breading was too salty, like it had been salted twice. The worst was the ladies restroom which needed a plumber to fix... More

Cooked-to-order food in a family-run restaurant. Our server explained that each meal is cooked after it is ordered - and that this is not the place to lunch if you are in a rush. Worth the wait!

The breakfast was the very best I have ever had. Everything was incredibly delicious and massive in portion size.. Jacqueline was a lovely hostess. There is a sign on the wall saying good home cooked food takes time. We didn't feel like we had to wait long and we were not the only customers. It was worth any amount of... More

If you are looking for excellent food with a local flavor and atmosphere, this is the place. It is worth driving off the main road into this little village and finding the restaurant. We stumbled upon it by chance and drove back the next morning just for breakfast again. You will not be disappointed.

Oh dear! There IS a sign on the wall about the wait and freshly cooked meals but an hour for a chicken and ham and cheese poboy?!?!We got our food after they locked their doors at 2:00. The women and owner are very nice but ugh....didn't plan on spending the afternoon there for a light lunch. A young family sitting... More

Had the pleasure of meeting Chez Jacqueline and her restaurant this afternoon. We almost walked by but so glad we didn't! It was quite possibly the best seafood Gumbo and etoufee I have ever eaten!! And living in Louisiana that's saying alot as I've eaten alot of Gumbo! We enjoyed listening to to her genuine French accent and great stories!... More
