Where else can you get a zydeco breakfast?!

As a restaurant, it's fine, nothing amazing. But if you are interested in Cajun culture, you've got to go to the zydeco breakfast! Doors open at 8 a.m. and it fills up fast. Mainly tourists at the tables getting breakfast, and locals at the bar drinking (yes, at 8 a.m.) and waiting for the music to... read more

Establishment came highly recommended. Long story short. We waited an hour and a half to finally get our food. When it did arrive, it was barely good. The shrimp and grits had no flavor and we had to send a bowl of grits back to be reheated. The rice that came with the gumbo was under cooked and almost crunchy.... More

Because of the rave reviews, we went out of our way to visit. If the 1.5 hour wait for food hadn't been enough, the so-so food motivated us to warn other readers of the peril in going to this restaurant.

Visiting from Arizona, I was delighted that my daughter found a place with a zydeco breakfast. Yes, it was an old building and yes it was crowded and we sat near the back and close to the bathrooms- however - that is to be expected....I did not want luxury in such a place. The wait was about an hour, the... More

Food was nice and enjoyed the experience. However they were understaffed and the food was nice, but not amazing like I had read about. However, considering the competition, this is probably the best place

We came to the cafe to enjoy the legendary zydeco breakfast and dancing. There's a $5 cover charge to get in the door, but the music alone is well worth the money! I've never seen music and dancing at 8 in the morning before, and it was by far the most fun I've had at breakfast in a long time.... More

Cafe Des Amis is not to be missed on Saturday mornings. We lined up about 7:30 and got a seat. The andouille sausage and cheese grits are amazing. Be sure to order beignets with your coffee when you first sit down. The band was awesome! They started playing about 8:30. Everyone is dancing, join in and have a great time!

This small cafe in the center of Breaux Bridge features several kinds of excellent gumbo and other Cajun creations. The waitress was delightful and the pictures and items on the walls related to the area.
